Introduction And Importance: Rapunzel syndrome is a rare condition that results from trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling) and trichophagia (hair eating), causing a trichobezoar (hairball) to form This syndrome typically affects young females with psychiatric conditions and presents with symptoms like chronic abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and malnutrition. The condition is often diagnosed late, leading to serious gastrointestinal complications.
Case Presentation: A 19-year-old female from a rural community presented with chronic abdominal pain, vomiting, and nutritional deficiencies, including scaly skin and koilonychia.

Introduction: Bezoars are an accumulation of human or vegetable fibers in the gastrointestinal tract which if extend to the small intestine are referred to as Rapunzel syndrome. They are primarily a psychiatric issue rather than a surgical condition and are associated with trichotillomania, with subsequent trichophagia, pica, and other psychiatric conditions usually seen in adolescent females. This case report describes an extremely rare diagnosis of Rapunzel syndrome in a 4-year-old female.

Trichobezoars are conglomerates of hair within the gastro-intestinal tract, commonly detected in the stomach, and they can present with the Rapunzel syndrome. Isolated small-bowel trichobezoars are extremely rare. Three female patients presented with abdominal pain and bilious vomiting, and underwent various imaging examinations.

This study presents the largest single-center series of pediatric cases to date, with the objective of documenting the clinical characteristics and treatment approaches for children with Rapunzel syndrome.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in children with Rapunzel syndrome from 2019 to 2023.
