Originally described in bacteria, drug transporters are now recognized as major determinants in antibiotics resistance. For Gram-negative bacteria, the reversible assembly consisting of an inner membrane protein responsible for the active transport, a periplasmic protein, and an exit outer membrane channel achieves transport. The opening of the outer membrane protein OprM from Pseudomonas aeruginosa was modeled through normal mode analysis starting from a new X-ray structure solved at 2.4 A resolution in P2(1)2(1)2(1) space group. The three monomers are not linked by internal crystallographic symmetries highlighting the possible functional differences. This structure is closed at both ends, but modeling allowed for an opening that is not reduced to the classically proposed "iris-like mechanism."

Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-specific, multisystemic disorder that affects 2-8% pregnancies worldwide and is a leading cause of maternal and perinatal mortality. At present, there is no cure for PE apart from delivery the placenta. Therefore, it is important and urgent to possess a suitable animal model to study the pathology and treatment of PE.

Background: The RAR-related orphan receptor alpha (RORA), a circadian clock molecule, is highly associated with anti-oncogenes. In this paper, we defined the precise action and mechanistic basis of RORA in ESCC development under hypoxia.
Methods: Expression analysis was conducted by RT-qPCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) alone or in combination with standard chemotherapy for advanced urothelial carcinoma (UC) have been tested as first-line treatment in clinical trials. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitor alone or combined with chemotherapy for patients with locally advanced or metastatic UC in a real world clinical care setting, and sought to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS).
Methods: A retrospective, real-world study involving 35 locally advanced or metastatic UC patients treated with PD-1 inhibitor alone or in combination with chemotherapy was conducted.

Adult Schistosoma produces a large number of eggs that play essential roles in host pathology and disease dissemination. Consequently, understanding the mechanisms of sexual maturation and egg production may open a new avenue for controlling schistosomiasis. Here, we describe that Bantam miRNA and miR-1989 regulate Wnt signaling pathway by targeting Frizzled-5/7/9, which is involved in ovarian development and oviposition.
