We present a case of a man who sustained a closed dorsal fracture-dislocation of his left ring finger proximal interphalangeal joint in a fall. The patient was treated surgically with plate and screw fixation via a volar approach. This method theoretically provides more secure fixation than internal fixation with screws alone, allowing early rehabilitation with active range of motion and potentially better functional outcome.

Total wrist arthrodesis can be used to treat symptomatic end-stage wrist osteoarthritis after failed conservative treatment. It can also be considered the last-resort option when partial fusion, proximal row carpectomy, denervation or prosthetic arthroplasty is unsuccessful. Currently anatomic pre-contoured low-profile plates with angle stable screws are available with or without inclusion of the carpometacarpal joints.

Background: Extra-articular but severely comminuted distal basal fractures of the proximal phalanx (PP) are rarely reported. Therefore, the aim of this study was to achieve proper union and desirable outcomes using low-profile locking plates/screws. We introduced our own surgical approach and reported the clinical/radiographic outcomes via retrospective case series.

Background: This study investigated the impact of higher interfragmentary compression force (IFCF) on the stability of locking plate fixation in lateral tibial plateau fractures.
Methods: Biomechanical experiments and finite element analysis (FEA) were employed to compare the performance of the AO cancellous lag screw (AOCLS) and a newly developed combined cancellous lag screw (CCLS).
Results: The results demonstrated that the CCLS provided a higher IFCF without the risk of over-screwing, significantly improving fixation stability.

Total femoral replacement (TFR) is not a common surgery and most indications are for oncological pathologies. However, there are few instances where non-oncological indications might necessitate TFR; this may be a salvage surgery for failed previous hip and/or knee surgeries with consequent significant femur bone loss. We present a 59-year-old obese woman with right thigh pain and difficulty with walking of 5 years duration.

During the gestational period, the pubic symphysis dilates for vaginal delivery. However, exacerbated widening may indicate ligament injury and pelvic instability, resulting in significant pain complaints. This uncommon condition is called peripartum pubic symphysis disjunction (PPSD).
