The prefrontal (cognitive) cerebral cortex of rats was studied by morphological and physiological methods 56 days after stroke induced by photothrombosis. The cognitive capacity impaired after the intervention was completely restored by this time. The count of fused cells (dikaryons) increased significantly in experimental and sham-operated (control) animals in comparison with the early period (7 days) after surgery. Normalization of the dikaryon and mononuclear cell structure was observed after 56 days. Presumably, cell fusion promotes their morphological restoration and regeneration of the lost functional capacity. Fusion is regarded as a manifestation of physiological and reparative regeneration of the cortex.

Background: A 73-year-old female with a 3 year history of Alzheimer's disease was treated within the protocol of The Alzheimer's Autism and Cognitive Impairment Stem Cell Treatment Study (ACIST), an IRB approved clinical study registered with clinicaltrials.gov NCT03724136.
Method: The procedure consists of bone marrow aspiration, cell separation using an FDA cleared class 2 device, and intravenous and intranasal administration of the stem cell fraction.

A desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) presented in a 13-year-old female with an acute abdomen due to torsion of a fallopian tube cyst. She was found to have an incidental 2 cm pedunculated, solid, and multicystic mass attached to the pelvic floor on laparoscopy. The neoplasm had a variably myxoid and spindle cell pattern with nests and cords of small cells, forming pseudocysts, and true cysts lined by ciliated epithelium which were PAX-8+ and ER+/PR+.

Conventional type 1 dendritic cells are essential for antigen presentation and successful initiation of antitumor CD8 T cells. However, their abundance and function within tumors tend to be limited. , a fast-growing, nonpathogenic mycobacterium, proves to be easily modified with synthetic biology.

The objective of the present study was to investigate the role and mechanism of bone marrow microenvironmental cells in regulating the mitochondrial mass of leukemia cells, and to uncover the mechanism of leukemia progression at the metabolic level. A mouse model of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) induced by the overexpression of the MLL-AF9 (MA9) fusion protein was established, and the bone marrow cells of AML mice were transplanted into mitochondrial fluorescence reporter mice expressing the Dendra2 protein (mito-Dendra2 mice). The proportion of Dendra2 cells in bone marrow leukemia cells at different stages of AML was quantified by flow cytometry.
