The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency with which atherosclerotic lesions of renal arteries are detected during diagnostic angiography in patients presenting with peripheral arterial disease. To this was added the assessment of the risk factors for the development of atherosclerotic renal artery lesions (i. e., gender, age, and the level of a concomitant lesion of the lower-limb arteries). The findings obtained in our study revealed that each fourth patient with Leriche's syndrome appeared to have a significant lesion of the renal artery. Female sex was found to be a predictor of renal artery lesions in patients with peripheral arterial disease. Patients presenting with pathology of renal arteries proved significantly older than those having no lesions of renal arteries.

A 54-year-old man who had been on the kidney donor register for 32 years received a kidney from a 9-year-old boy who had died of fulminant myocarditis. The post-operative course was poor, and hemodialysis was still needed after surgery. A kidney biopsy one hour after surgery showed a neutrophil-predominant inflammatory cell infiltrate localized to the peritubular capillaries (PTC) and acute tubular necrosis of the proximal tubule.

Aims: Despite receiving guideline-directed medical heart failure (HF) therapy, patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with left heart disease (PH-LHD) experience higher mortality and hospitalization rates than the general HF population. AZD3427 is a functionally selective, long-acting mimetic of relaxin, a hormone that has the potential to induce vasodilation and prevent fibrosis. In a phase 1b study conducted in patients with HF, AZD3427 demonstrated a favourable safety and pharmacokinetic profile.
