Disasters typically do not abide by logical or standard rules and can be of any size or variety. But what is a disaster? How does time factor into dealing with the disaster? When will help arrive? How long will it take to recover? Why can everything not be fixed immediately? Television shows since the 1970s were instrumental in elevating public awareness of emergency service capabilities but also created a false expectation of expediency and un-implied over-exaggeration in capabilities. The speed of information from 21st century technology has created an immediacy of results expectation.

In this paper, we present the results of applying an electric field to activate bubbles' escape, coalescence, and departure. A simple electrowetting-on-dielectric device was utilized in this bubble dynamics study. When a copper electrode wire inserted into deionized water was positioned on one side of single or multiple bubbles, the bubble tended to continuously escape from its initial position as the voltage was turned on.

Palladium diselenide ([Formula: see text]) is a recently isolated layered material that has attracted a lot of interest for its pentagonal structure, air stability and electrical properties that are largely tunable by the number of layers. In this work, multilayer [Formula: see text] is used as the channel of back-gate field-effect transistors, which are studied under repeated electron irradiations. Source-drain [Formula: see text] electrodes enable contacts with resistance below [Formula: see text].

In this context, nonedible oil-producing seeds might be a potential source for biodiesel production owing to their environment-friendly nature and cost-effectiveness.
