Actin cytoskeleton drives the targeted transport of cell wall components to sustain the tip growth of pollen tubes for double fertilization; however, the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. formin 5 (AtFH5), an actin-nucleating protein, localizes at secretory vesicles and mediates actin polymerization-based vesicle trafficking in pollen. Here, we demonstrate that AtFH5 determines the recruitment and transport of cell wall components in AtFH5-labeled vesicles during the tip growth of pollen tubes.

Cultivated cotton plants are the world's largest source of natural fibre, where yield and quality are key traits for this renewable and biodegradable commodity. The cotton genome contains ~80K protein-coding genes, making precision breeding of complex traits a challenge. This study tested approaches to improving the genomic prediction (GP) accuracy of valuable cotton fibre traits to help accelerate precision breeding.

Australian saltbush (Atriplex spp.) survive in exceptionally saline environments and are often used for pasture in semi-arid areas. To investigate the impact of salinity on saltbush root morphology and root exudates, three Australian native saltbush species (Atriplex nummularia , Atriplex amnicola , and Atriplex vesicaria ) were grown in vitro in optimised sterile, semi-hydroponic systems in media supplemented with different concentrations of salt (NaCl).

Gum arabic finds extensive application and typically undergoes sterilization prior to utilization in the food industry. This study explored the impact of steam sterilization temperature and duration on the physicochemical and emulsification characteristics of gum arabic, accompanied by proposed mechanisms elucidating observed effects. The results showed that when gum arabic was treated with high temperature sterilization (110 °C ∼ 140 °C), the emulsion prepared turned unstable.
