The objective of this study is to examine the adsorption-desorption behavior of a magnetically active hybrid sorbent (MAHS) material, prepared by dispersing colloid-like hydrated iron oxide particles in the outer periphery of a macroporous ion-exchange resin (Amberlite XAD-2). The experimental results show that the new sorbent material can simultaneously remove arsenic (V) and a chlorinated organic compound (2,6-dichlorophenol [2,6-DCP]) from aqueous solutions at around neutral pH. The recovery of arsenic and 2,6-DCP from MAHS was conducted using a regenerant containing 50% (v/v) CH3OH + 3% (w/v) NaOH. In less than 10 bed volumes of regenerant, more than 90% of As(V) and 2,6-DCP were recovered.

Compositionally complex doping of spinel oxides toward high-entropy oxides is expected to enhance their electrochemical performance substantially. We successfully prepared high-entropy compounds, the oxide (ZnMgCoCu)FeO (HEOFe), lithiated oxyfluoride Li(ZnMgCoCu)FeOF (LiHEOFeF), and lithiated oxychloride Li(ZnMgCoCu)FeOCl (LiHEOFeCl) with a spinel-based cubic structure by ball milling and subsequent heat treatment. The products exhibit particles with sizes from 50 to 200 nm with a homogeneous atomic distribution.

The electrochemical property of Mo2C nanoparticles (NPs) depends on the structure and crystal planes. Herein, Mo2C nanoparticles were prepared and dispersed on carbon nanosheets by the construction of a biomass-derived carbon precursor, and the exposed dual crystal planes were also controlled by optimal conditions. The structure, compositions, and morphology of the carbon-based Mo2C were characterized, and the Mo2C NPs were well dispersed on the carbon nanosheets.

Amorphous-dominated magnesium oxide hollow spheres (A-MgO) were prepared using a spray-drying method in this study. These hollow spheres exhibited excellent sphericity, large specific surface areas, and abundant porosity. A-MgO exhibited outstanding fluoride adsorption properties, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 260.

Activating agents enable the efficient preparation of organozinc complexes from zinc metal and organohalides, but their mechanisms had been obscured by the heterogeneous nature of these systems. Fluorescence microscopy, with the sensitivity to detect surface reaction intermediates, reveals distinct activating mechanisms of widely used activation strategies: trimethylsilyl chloride, LiCl, DMSO, and Rieke zinc powder. The resulting development of mechanistic models provides a better understanding of the oxidative-addition-solubilization sequence in organozinc reagent formation and contains lessons for methods development.

Flexible two-dimensional nickel-cobalt metal-organic frameworks/graphene oxide/carbon nanotubes (2D NiCo-MOF/GO/CNTs) hybrid films have been designed and prepared as high-performance supercapacitor electrode materials vacuum filtration. The 2D NiCo-MOF nanosheets serve as the main source of capacitance for the hybrid films, while CNTs function as both the conductive network, enhancing the electrical conductivity of the MOFs, and the binder, linking the 2D NiCo-MOF nanosheets and GO. When the mass ratio of 2D NiCo-MOF, GO, and CNTs is 2 : 1 : 0.
