Arrhythmias are critical contributors to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Therapies are mainly symptomatic and often insufficient, emphasizing the need for basic research to unveil the mechanisms underlying arrhythmias and to enable better and ideally causal therapies. In translational approaches, mice are commonly used to study arrhythmia mechanisms in vivo.

Objective: Majority of seizures are detected within 24 hours on continuous EEG (cEEG). Some patients have delayed seizure detection after 24 hours. The purpose of this research was to identify risk factors that predict delayed seizure detection and to determine optimal cEEG duration for various patient subpopulations.

Objectives: To evaluate the outcomes of thoracoscopic surgery for intractable secondary spontaneous pneumothorax (SSP) under local anesthesia in high-risk patients and report intraoperative findings useful for identifying air leakage points.
Methods: We analyzed outcomes of 14 consecutive thoracoscopic operations under local anesthesia for high-risk SSP from 2015 to 2019. Suspicious lesions were determined based on intraoperative direct or indirect detections.

West Nile virus (WNV) causes severe neuroinvasive disease in humans characterized by meningitis, encephalitis, and acute flaccid paralysis (poliomyelitis variant). In neuroinvasive disease, WNV infection of neurons resulting in neuronal loss is generally presumed to be the anatomical substrate for the high morbidity and mortality. However, on a molecular level, WNV infection also results in a significant upregulation of important proinflammatory molecules that have been reported to promote neuroinflammation and cytotoxicity.

Today the anesthesia service is able to satisfy virtually all the requirements of a surgeon and a female patient, however, some institutional factors, as for example postoperative recovery of consciousness, and factors influencing it, remain unaddressed. The aim: to explore the possibilities of influence of different combinations and dosages of medical preparations used to provide monitored anesthesia care of CUC, to change the time of postoperative recovery of patient's consciousness.
