I describe several models of population dynamics, both unstructured and gender structured, that include groups of individuals who do not reproduce. I analyze the effect that the nonreproductive group may have on the dynamics of the whole population in terms of the vital rates and the proportion of nonreproductive individuals, and we provide specific examples for real populations.

Complexity and reproductive plasticity are very well-known characteristics of anurans. The group is being continuously explored taxonomically and phylogenetically, which leads to a great potential diversity not yet uncovered. This is particularly evident due to the lack of investigation regarding species-specific traits, even the ones well distributed in the lineages as polyandry.

Background: DNA methylation (DNAm) influences both sex differences and cancer development, yet the mechanisms connecting these factors remain unclear.
Methods: Utilizing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of sex-related DNAm effects in nine non-reproductive cancers, compared to paired normal adjacent tissues (NATs), and validated the results using independent datasets. First, we assessed the extent of sex differential DNAm between cancers and NATs to explore how sex-related DNAm differences change in cancerous tissues.

The is the only known sea turtle that nests along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. It is considered a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) because it is threatened by human activities. The aim of this work was to analyze biochemical parameters in different age groups of subjects recovered at the Centro di Referenza Nazionale sul Benessere, Monitoraggio e Diagnostica delle Malattie delle Tartarughe Marine (C.

Incorporating of agro-industrial co-products into animal nutrition could represent an opportunity to lessen the environmental impact of the food production chain. One such co-product is a hempseed cake originating from cold pressing hemp seeds to extract oil for human consumption. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the action of hempseed cake in the diet on male rabbit reproductive and some non-reproductive indexes.
