We consider a higher-order complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, with the fourth-order dispersion and cubic-quintic nonlinear terms, which can describe the propagation of an ultrashort subpicosecond or femtosecond optical pulse in an optical fiber system. We investigate the modulational instability (MI) of continuous wave solution of this equation. Several types of modulational instability gains are shown to exist in both the anomalous and normal dispersion regimes. We find that depending on the sign of the fourth-order dispersion coefficient, the MI appears for normal and anomalous dispersion regime. Simulations of the full system demonstrate that the development of the MI leads to establishment of a regular or chaotic array of pulses, a chain of well-separated peaks with continuously growing or decaying amplitudes depending on the sign of the loss/gain coefficient and higher-order dispersions terms. Comparison of the calculations with reported numerical results shows a satisfactory agreement.

We have found long-living periodic solutions of the complex cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation (CCQGLE) perturbed with intrapulse Raman scattering. To achieve this we have applied a model system of ordinary differential equations (SODE). A set of the fixed points of the system has been described.

A hidden state in which a spin does not interact with any other spin contributes to the entropy of an interacting spin system. We explore the q-state Potts model with extra r hidden states using the Ginzburg-Landau formalism in the mean-field limit. We analytically demonstrate that when 1 View Article and Find Full Text PDF

Enhanced triplet superconductivity in next-generation ultraclean UTe.

The unconventional superconductor UTe[Formula: see text] exhibits numerous signatures of spin-triplet superconductivity-a rare state of matter which could enable quantum computation protected against decoherence. UTe[Formula: see text] possesses a complex phase landscape comprising two magnetic field-induced superconducting phases, a metamagnetic transition to a field-polarized state, along with pair- and charge-density wave orders. However, contradictory reports between studies performed on UTe[Formula: see text] specimens of varying quality have severely impeded theoretical efforts to understand the microscopic origins of the exotic superconductivity.

We consider the one-dimensional deterministic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation in the regime of phase turbulence, where the order parameter displays a defect-free chaotic phase dynamics, which maps to the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation, characterized by negative viscosity and a modulational instability at linear level. In this regime, the dynamical behavior of the large wavelength modes is captured by the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) universality class, determining their universal scaling and their statistical properties. These modes exhibit the characteristic KPZ superdiffusive scaling with the dynamical critical exponent z=3/2.
