Background: Globally, there is a rapidly increasing proportion of women studying and practising healthcare. This has been accompanied by a reducing proportion of males in most healthcare professions. This has been a contributory factor to the decreasing health staffing due to the tendency of females to work fewer hours and leave their profession earlier.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Older adults commonly experience chronic medical conditions and are at risk of cognitive impairment as a result of age, chronic comorbidity, and medications prescribed to manage multiple chronic conditions. Anticholinergic medications are common treatments for chronic conditions, and have been repeatedly associated with poor cognitive outcomes, including delirium and dementia, in epidemiologic studies. However, no study has definitively evaluated the causal relationship between anticholinergics and cognition in a randomized controlled trial design.

Introduction: SMART objectives are a major component of health coaching and lifestyle medicine, however, there are limited studies describing their use in current health care curriculums. This study incorporated SMART objectives within an Interprofessional Education (IPE) event offered to students who were screening community-dwelling adults within their community for falls and osteoporosis risk. The purpose was to evaluate if students could confidently develop a SMART objective with their client that was relevant to the screening results.
