Background: It is not known whether androgen ablation therapy (AAT) influences TRAIL death ligand and its receptors expression of prostate cancer (PCa) cells.
Aim: To investigate whether hormonal therapy alters the expression of TRAIL death ligand and TRAIL receptors in patients with advanced PCa.
Patients And Methods: 26 untreated and 20 AAT-treated advanced PCa patients were included in the study. The patients who received AAT were divided into two groups based on hormone sensitivity status. TRAIL ligand and receptor expression were determined by a conventional immunohistochemistry method.
Results: TRAIL death ligand and TRAIL-R2 death receptor were upregulated in PCa patients who received AAT. Hormone-refractory PCa patients exhibited lower levels of TRAIL death receptor (TRAIL-R1 and TRAIL-R2) expression compared to hormone-sensitive PCa patients.
Conclusions: AAT alters TRAIL death ligand and its receptors expression in patients with PCa.

Introduction: In August 2023, hybrid sturgeons () cultured in Sichuan, China, showed infectious disease symptoms, including ulcers, liver and spleen nodules, and high mortality rates.
Methods: Pathogenic bacteria were isolated from the liver of diseased sturgeons and analyzed for their phenotypic and molecular traits. Furthermore, iridovirus-specific TaqMan real-time PCR (RT-PCR) analyses were conducted.

Introduction: The understanding of biological pathways related to loneliness and social isolation remains incomplete. Cutting-edge population-based proteomics offers opportunities to uncover novel biological pathways linked to social deficits.
Methods: This study employed a proteome-wide and data-driven approach to estimate the cross-sectional associations between objective measures of social connections (i.

Background: Mitochondrial ORF of the 12S rRNA type-c (MOTS-c) as an AMPK agonist can regulate the expression of adaptive nuclear genes to promote cell homeostasis. However, the investigation of MOTS-c in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is insufficient. This study aims to reveal the role of MOTS-c on HCC cell apoptosis.

Podocytes can undergo PANoptosis (apoptosis, pyroptosis, and necroptosis). Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of kidney failure, and podocyte loss is a major event leading to the progression of DKD. Here, we compared single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data between three normal and three DKD human kidney samples and found a significant increase of TNFSF10 and TNFRSF10B expression in podocytes of patients with DKD.

Introduction: Nadofaragene firadenovec (Ad-IFNα/Syn3) is now approved for BCG-unresponsive bladder cancer (BLCA). IFNα is a pleiotropic cytokine that causes direct tumor cell killing via TRAIL-mediated apoptosis, angiogenesis inhibition, and activation of the innate and adaptive immune system. We established an immunocompetent murine BLCA model to study the effects of murine adenoviral IFNα (muAd-Ifnα) gene therapy on cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment using a novel murine equivalent of Nadofaragene firadenovec (muAd-Ifnα).
