A new and selective sorbent for molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) was developed and applied for the determination of residues of fenitrothion (FNT) in tomatoes, using HPLC coupled to photodiode array detection (HPLC-DAD). Using FNT as the template molecule, methacrylic acid as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross-linker, toluene as the porogenic solvent, and bulk polymerization as the synthetic method, a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was synthesized. In order to choose the medium which promotes the best molecular recognition of FNT by the MIP, the adsorption of FNT by the MIP was studied in different media containing acetonitrile and toluene. Besides FNT, three structurally related compounds were used to evaluate the selectivity of the FNT-molecularly imprinted polymer. The MIP exhibited the highest selective rebinding to FNT. The method developed was validated, using fortified blank tomato samples. The extraction efficiency was 96%. The limits of detection and quantitation were 0.050 and 0.130 microg g(-1), respectively. The intra-day precision was 5.9% and the inter-day precision 8.1%. The accuracy was higher than 89% for a concentration level around the maximum residue limit of 0.5 microg g(-1).

Microcystins (MCs) is one of the most commonly toxic cyclic heptapeptide cyanotoxins with a variety of congeners in aquatic environments. Different MC congeners exhibit different toxicity; however, successful discrimination of MC congeners in complex samples remains challenging. Herein, we combine efficient enrichment of magnetic imprinting and precise discrimination of fluorescence sensor arrays, constructing a new strategy to distinguish MC congeners (MC-LR, MC-RR, and MC-YR).

Based on the principle that poly(thymine) ssDNA could recognize melamine (Mel) in aqueous media and the third face of Mel could be accessed by other hydrogen bonding molecules, UiO-66-NH was functionalized with poly(thymine) ssDNA and as the matrix to construct three-face recognition molecularly imprinted polymers (UDMIPs). The adsorption processes of UDMIPs towards Mel were accorded to Sips model and exhibited high adsorption capacity (Q=10.60 mg/g) and good imprinting factor (IF=2.

A simple and efficient approach that combined electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for selective and sensitive detection of the hallucinogenic drug -dimethyltryptamine (DMT) was developed. ECL, one of the most sensitive analytical techniques for ultratrace analyte detection, offers the advantage of light-free spectroscopic analysis initiated by electrochemistry. MIPs, on the other hand, provide specific binding sites, allowing the target analyte to become selectively imprinted within the polymer matrix.

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was used as a model glycoprotein, and a molecularly imprinted ratiometric fluorescence sensor based on a smartphone (NEB@MIP) was constructed using the sol-gel method for the fluorescence and visual detection of HRP. The sensor consisted of boronic acid-functionalized metal-organic frameworks (Eu-MOF-B(OH)) and nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs). The Eu-MOF-B(OH) surface can not only load abundant N-CDs but also covalently bind with HRP through its boronic acid groups.

Tetracycline (TC) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic but poses a significant threat to ecosystems. In this study, a series of alginate-based (ALG) hydrogel beads were synthesized with the incorporation of halloysite (Hal), a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP), and a Hal-deposited polymer (Hal@MIP). The adsorption properties of these materials were evaluated and compared with those of their chitosan-based (CS) counterparts.
