The neuroprotection of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients to alleviate the reperfusion injury is a long-standing problem. Although the intra-arterial selective cooling saline infusion (IA-SCSI) is a promising technique to improve the outcome of AIS, the clinical results are not sufficiently satisfactory. Magnesium-containing solutions such as magnesium sulfate (MgSO) can protect cells by modulating the intracellular Ca content in damaged cells, suggesting that they could be hypothermia infusion solution.

: Exsanguination is a leading cause of preventable death in military and civilian settings due to extensive blood loss and hemorrhagic shock, which trigger systemic effects such as impaired tissue perfusion, hypoxia, inflammation, and multi-organ dysfunction. Standard resuscitation restores blood volume but fails to address critical aspects of hemorrhagic shock, including inflammation, coagulopathy, and reperfusion injury. To address these limitations, novel phospholipid nanoparticle (PNP)-based resuscitative fluids, VBI-S and VBI-1, were developed to modulate nitric oxide (NO) levels, improving hemodynamic stability, tissue oxygenation, and reducing inflammatory injury.

Aim: To assess the efficacy and safety of autologous cell therapy (ACT) in patients with ischemic diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). The present meta-analysis was designed to support the development of the Italian Guidelines for the Treatment of Diabetic Foot Syndrome (DFS).
Methods: A Medline and Embase search were performed up to Feb 1st, 2024 collecting all RCTs including diabetic patients or reporting subgroup analyses on diabetic patients with ischemic foot ulcers comparing ACT with placebo/no therapy/standard of care (SoC), with a duration of at least 26 weeks.

Cardiac output (Q̇) and leg blood flow (Q̇) can be measured simultaneously with high accuracy using transpulmonary and femoral vein thermodilution with a single-bolus injection. The invasive measure has offered important insight into leg hemodynamics and blood flow distribution during exercise. Despite being the natural modality of exercise in humans, there has been no direct measure of Q̇ while running in humans.
