Objective: Waist circumference measurement is commonly used as a method for predicting the visceral fat area. However, waist circumference is difficult to measure, and there is a large margin of error between measurements. Visceral fat is adipose tissue that accumulates in the abdominal cavity, and when it accumulates in excess, abdominal computed tomography reveals a prominent protrusion of the anterior-posterior diameter of the abdomen in a coronal section at the umbilicus level.

Insects enhance aerodynamic flight control using the dynamic movement of their appendages, aiding in balance, stability, and manoeuvrability. Although biologists have observed these behaviours, the phenomena have not been expressed in a unified mathematical flight dynamics framework. For instance, relevant existing models tend to disregard either the aerodynamic or the inertial effects of the appendages of insects, such as the abdomen, based on the assumption that appendage dynamic effects dominate in comparison to aerodynamic effects, or that appendages are stationary.

Aortic dilatation is a severe pathology that increases the risk of rupture and its hemodynamics could be accurately assessed by using the 4D flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) technique but flow assessment under complex flow patterns require validation. The aim of this work was to develop ansystem compatible with CMR to assess the accuracy of volume flow measurements in dilated aortas. Two latex models, one with ascending and the other with abdominal aortic aneurysms were manufactured to ensure a constant and controlled net flow volume along the aortic length.

Objective: To explore the relationship between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) and adverse pregnancy outcomes and explore the risk factors for HDP.
Methods: Data were obtained from the Maternal Near-Miss Surveillance System in Hunan Province, China, 2012-2022. Chi-square trend tests ( ) were used to determine trends in prevalence by year.
