This study aimed to elucidate the pathways through which covalent and non-covalent interactions between deamidated gliadin (DG) and tannic acid (TA) on influence the stability of Pickering emulsions. The interactions induced protein unfolding, as evidenced by increased ultraviolet absorption and a red shift in fluorescence emission. DG-TA composite nanoparticles effectively stabilized high internal phase emulsions, whereas DG nanoparticles alone did not.

Recombinant adeno-associated viruses (rAAVs) have emerged as promising vaccine vectors due to their enduring efficacy with a single dose. However, insufficient cellular immune responses and the random and non-specific distribution of AAVs post-injection may hinder the development of AAV vaccines. Here, a novel Pickering emulsion platform stabilized by biomineralized manganese nanoparticles and aluminum hydroxide, which can rapidly and efficiently load AAVs, is reported.

Introduction: The annual prevalence of elder mistreatment (EM) in cognitively intact older adults is estimated to be 11%, yet the annual prevalence in older adults with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) is estimated to be as high as 75%. Associated with a decrease in quality of life and increase in risk of mortality, EM represents a significant public health burden. Home-based primary care (HBPC) providers are uniquely positioned to address the critical need for robust EM screening and reporting, especially among individuals with AD/ADRD.

In this work, three types of benzenedialdehydes (1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-BDAs) were used to prepare BDA-crosslinked gelatin nanoparticles and the 1,2-BDA-crosslinked gelatin nanoparticle was explored to stabilize fish oil-loaded Pickering emulsions.
