Mindfulness reflects an awareness of present moment experiences through an attitude of acceptance and openness (Bishop et al., 2004; Cardaciotto, Herbert, Forman, Moitra, & Farrow, 2008). Experiential avoidance, by contrast, refers to attempts to change, alter, or avoid private experiences (e.g., thoughts, feelings, sensations), and it is believed to underlie a number of psychopathologies, including PTSD (Hayes, Wilson, Gifford, Follette, & Strosahl, 1996). We were interested in the ability of mindfulness to predict the variance of PTSD avoidance symptom severity above and beyond experiential avoidance. 378 introductory psychology students were administered self-report measures of PTSD, mindfulness, experiential avoidance, thought suppression, alexithymia, and avoidant coping. Mindfulness, specifically nonjudgment of experiences, accounted for a unique portion of the variance in PTSD avoidance symptoms.

Background: Skin-picking disorder (SPD) is currently conceptualized as a condition related to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The present study investigated whether the emotional, cognitive, and somatic components of skin-picking episodes align with this conceptual framework.
Method: A total of 134 patients diagnosed with SPD (mean age = 32 years; 84 % female; average symptom duration: 16 years) underwent in-person clinical assessment.
Background: Understanding variables that influence therapy outcomes can improve the results of interventions and reduce socio-health costs. The current study examined possible predictors and moderators of outcome (age, gender, duration of panic disorder, motivation to change, conscientiousness, and experiential avoidance) in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Method: Eighty participants with a diagnosis of panic disorder, 56 women and 24 men, with an average age of 38 years, received 12 group sessions of CBT or ACT.

With the increasing detection rate of Internet addiction in college students, the correlation between Internet addiction and emotional problems is further strengthened. Therefore, it is crucial to actively investigate the emotional mechanisms underlying college students' internet addiction to foster their healthy development. This study establishes a moderated mediation model based on the relationships among experiential avoidance, internet addiction, anxiety, and difficulty describing feelings to explore the link between experiential avoidance and internet addiction, the mediating role of anxiety, and the moderating effect of difficulty describing feelings.

Background: Women undergoing breast cancer surgery frequently experience postsurgical pain and fatigue, which reduces their quality of life. Although psychological factors have been shown to play a role in predicting postsurgical outcomes, the subacute recovery phase often remains underexplored. In this secondary analysis of data from a randomised controlled trial, we sought to investigate the predictive role of negative affect and experiential avoidance on postsurgical symptoms during both acute and subacute recovery.

Background: Recent clinical trials suggest promising antidepressant effects of psilocybin, despite methodological challenges. While various studies have investigated distinct mechanisms and proposed theoretical opinions, a comprehensive understanding of psilocybin's neurobiological and psychological antidepressant mechanisms is lacking.
Aims: Systematically review potential antidepressant neurobiological and psychological mechanisms of psilocybin.
