Hypothyroidism was documented by cordocentesis at 19 weeks in a fetus with non-immune goiter. Intra-amniotic thyroxine was injected at 25 weeks when amniotic fluid volume increased. Psychomotor outcome was normal. We argue that intra-amniotic thyroxine should not be used to treat the hypothyroidism but only to correct the development of polyhydramnios.

Indications and administration of intra-amniotic infusions of L-thyroxine in the context of non-immune fetal hypothyroidism with goiter lack of standardization. Systematic follow-up of clinical features related to thyroid hormonal homeostasis may be useful to evaluate their efficiency and develop standardized management guidelines.

Introduction: Recent studies have revealed the presence of zinc and the expression of zinc transporter (ZnT) family members in most endocrine cell types. It was demonstrated that ZnT family plays an important role in the synthesis and secretion of many hormones. Moreover, recently ZnT8 was described as a newly islet autoantigen in type 1 diabetes.

The link between Graves' disease (GD) and Hashimotos thyroiditis (HT) has been debated for decades due to the shared pathological and immunological components. Immune intolerance and inappropriate immune reaction against self-thyroid cells are distinctive features of both diseases, but definitive data for the clinical presentation of autoimmune thyroid disease remains unclear. To analyse the expression of T-regulatory cells, CD58, the CD4/CD8 ratio and the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and to determine if these parameters could be used as differentiating markers between auto- and non-immune thyroid diseases, 75 patients were enrolled in this study-40 with autoimmune thyroid disease (HT and GD ), 15 with non-immune thyroid disease, and 20 healthy controls.

The preproghrelin gene is responsible for generating ghrelin and obestatin, two gastric peptides with opposite effects on food intake. Obestatin suppresses food intake and digestive motility through interaction with GPR39 (GPCR). Ghrelin is supposed to be a link connecting metabolism and energy homeostasis with growth as the result of activation of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR).

Background: Fetal umbilical cord blood sampling is now being performed worldwide, using an ultrasound guided technique, for prenatal diagnosis in pregnancies at high risk for several congenital and genetic defects in the fetus. Awareness of feasibility of the procedure and indications for the same should be known to every obstetrician.
Aims And Objectives: To study the indications for Fetal Cord Blood Sampling in high risk pregnancy patients in the last 20 years at a tertiary referral center in India.
