Objective: To study the status of norovirus in environment of the patient's residence and water samples after a norovirus gastroenteritis outbreak, to provide evidences for the development of strategies for prevention and control of the disease.
Methods: After a norovirus gastroenteritis outbreak, anus swabs from the patient, swabs from the household environment and the water samples were collected to detect the norovirus by RT-PCR methods. Sequencing analysis was conducted on those positive specimens.
Results: Three specimens of the anus swabs from 9 patients and 2 samples of the 46 house environment swabs were positive to the virus. The latter were from the surface of water-closets of two families that the illness were asymptomatic. Among 5 water samples, only one was positive, which was the rivulet water that the feces of the villagers evacuated directly.
Results: showed that the sequences of the virus detected from the anus swabs of the patients, the swabs from the household environment and the samples of the rivulet water belonged to the same species.
Conclusion: It is necessary to strengthen activities as supervision and disinfection to the feces of the patients, especially on monitoring the feces that might have contaminated the water during the norovirus gastroenteritis outbreak.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to screen for, isolate and characterize a bacteriophage designated ɸEcM-vB1 with confirmed lytic activity against multidrug-resistant (MDR) E. coli. Methods done in this research are bacteriophage isolation, purification, titer determination, bacteriophage morphology, host range determination, bacteriophage latent period and burst size determination, genomic analysis by restriction enzymes, and bacteriophage total protein content determination.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of different SARS-CoV-2 inactivation methods on the blood concentration of colistin sulfate.
Methods: A colistin sulfate reference substance, a quality control plasma sample, and a clinically measured sample were transferred and heated in a 56 °C water batch for 30 min or irradiated under an ultraviolet (UV) lamp for 60 min to examine the stability of the reference solution and quality control plasma sample. Statistical analysis was conducted for the concentration of the clinically measured sample before and after inactivation with the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) method, the Passing-Bablok regression, and the Bland-Altman analysis.

Fluorescent lifetimes of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and associated physicochemical parameters were measured over 14 months in an estuary in Southern California, USA. Measurements were made on 77 samples from sites near the inlet, mid-estuary, and outlet to maximize the range of physicochemical variables. Time-resolved fluorescence data were well fit to a triexponential model with an intermediate lifetime component (τ: 1 to 5 ns), a long lifetime component (τ: 2 to 15 ns), and a short lifetime component (τ: < 1 ns).

The two-stage channel (TSC) design with a vegetated man-made floodplain has been recommended as an alternative to conventional re-dredging for managing suspended sediment (SS) and nutrient loads in agricultural streams. However, there are currently uncertainties surrounding the efficiency of TSCs, since mass balances covering the whole annual hydrograph and including different periods of the channel life cycle are lacking. This paper aims to improve understanding of the medium-term morphological development and sedimentary nutrient retention when a dredged, trapezoidal-shaped channel is converted into a TSC, using a mass balance estimate of nutrient and carbon retention from immediately after excavation until the establishment of approximate biogeochemical equilibrium retention.

The world is now facing a water scarcity crisis due to waste, pollution, and uneven distribution of freshwater resources, which are limited. Thus, the creation of innovative, economical, and effective methods for purifying water is crucial. Here, the photo-assisted degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible light and UV was achieved by using RGO photocatalyst loaded with ZnCuFeO in three different loaded 10%, 20%, and 30% called MRGO 10, MRGO 20, and MRGO 30.
