Purpose: To evaluate the clinical application of digital photography in special color teeth, and to explore the role and the problems s of digital photos to improve cosmetic effect.

Methods: Digital photography combined visual color-matching was applied in 50 cases with special color teeth in ceramic restorations selected randomly. Then the satisfactory degree of the patients and dentists was evaluated and the value of L*a*b* between prosthesis and its neighbors was collected by self-developed software Dental ImgShop. Chroma (C(ab) )and hue (h(ab) degrees ) were calculated according to the value of a and b. The data was analyzed with paired t test using SAS6.12 software package, so as chromatic aberration (deltaE).

Results: The satisfactory degree of the patients was 98%, and the satisfaction degree of the dentists was 94%. The range of L, a ,b C(ab), h(ab) degrees of special color teeth was 54.50-92.29, -0.97-8.12,-0.73-20.85,0.85-21.34,29.73-89.20, respectively. There was no significant difference between the prosthesis and their neighbors statistically (P>0.05). The mean value of chromatic aberration (deltaE) was 0.948(0.136-3.45), and only 3 cases were unacceptable (deltaE>/=2).

Conclusions: Digital photography could record and transmit the color information of special color teeth more exactly, and could improve the patients satisfaction and the cosmetic effect in color measuring. Full-thickness defects of the lower lip pose a considerable challenge for reconstructive surgeons. The primary objective should be the restoration of oral sphincter competence, achieving both functionally and aesthetically favorable outcomes. For defects involving more than one-third of the lower lip, multiple locoregional flaps have been described as the optimal solution due to their color and texture match.

Background/objectives: Tartrazine (TRZ), a synthetic red azo dye derived from coal tar, is widely used as a food colorant in various food products, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. This study aims to investigate the impact of TRZ on the expression levels of DNA methyltransferases (, , and ) and histone deacetylases ( and ). Additionally, we evaluate genomic DNA stability using the alkaline comet assay in three human cell lines: immortalized human keratinocyte (HaCaT), human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2), and human lung adenocarcinoma (A549).

This study investigated the effects of microwave (MW) reheating, water boiling (WB) reheating, and steaming (ST) reheating on the quality attributes (including reheating loss, moisture content, centrifugal loss, water distribution, color, texture, microstructure, flavor, and taste) of pre-cooked braised chicken (PBC), using a non-reheated group as a control (C). The results showed that the ST group demonstrated the lowest reheating loss, and that ST reheating had the least influence on textural characteristics among all the reheating methods. In addition, the results of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed that the integrity of the muscle fibers in the ST group was most comparable to the C group.

The Overall Quality Changes of Chinese Sauced Ducks at Different Stages During Processing and Storage.

Foods

February 2025

State Key Laboratory for Quality and Safety of Agro-Products, Institute of Agro-Product Safety and Nutrition, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hangzhou 310021, China.

This study reveals the physicochemical, microbial, flavor, and sensory changes in sauced duck from the marinating phase to the end of storage, divided into six stages (stages A-F). The changes in color, total plate count, total volatile basic nitrogen, and thiobarbituric acid reactive substance at different stages were clarified. We utilized 16S rRNA gene sequencing, GC-IMS, and GC-MS to explore the changes in bacterial flora, fatty acid composition, and flavor characteristics.

To investigate the flavour evolution mechanism of raw Pu-erh tea (RPT) during storage, the volatile and non-volatile compounds of RPT with different storage years (1-10 years) from the same raw material origin, manufacturer, and storage location in Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, were systematically analysed by HPLC, HS-SPME-GC-MS, and OAV. The results showed that both cluster analyses based on non-volatile and volatile compounds could classify RPT of different storage years into three ageing cycles, with key turning points in the third and eighth years of storage, which is also accompanied by the colour changing from green to orange or brown, the aroma changing from a faint scent to woody and ageing, the astringency diminishing, and the sweet and mellow increasing. Theophylline was identified as the potential marker of RPT stored 1-3 years, while (-)-catechin gallate, (-)-gallocatechin gallate, quercetin, and rutin as those for a storage of 9-10 years.
