Published: April 2010

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the sealing properties of IRM, Coltosol, Cavit G, Adhesor and Clip, which used as temporary filling material in coronal access openings in extracted human primary teeth.

Study Design: Standardized access cavities of 2 x 2 mm were prepared in the eighty-four, caries-free human primary anterior teeth. The teeth were divided randomly into five groups of 16 teeth each. Temporary restorative materials Group A: IRM (Dentsply), Group B: Coltosol (Coltone), Group C: Cavit G (3M), Group D: Adhesor (Spofa Dental) and Group E: Clip (Voco) were applied according to the manufacturer's directions. The specimens were immersed silver nitrate and placed in film developer under fluorescent for 24 hours. The sectioned specimens were evaluated under a digital microscope at x 20 magnifications and blindly scored for microleakage.

Results: Clip presented the least microleakage value whereas; Adhesor and IRM presented the higher microleakage values. There were statistically significant differences between Clip and the others groups, while there were no statistically significant differences in microleakage between IRM, Adhesor, Coltosol and Cavit G. However the leakage scores of Clip and Cavit G were congruent (p = 0.454).

Conclusion: Amongst the five materials, Clip exhibited a better sealing ability.

Sucrose synthase gene family in common bean during pod filling subjected to moisture restriction.

Front Plant Sci

December 2024

Consejo Nacional de Humanidades, Ciencias y Tecnologías (CONAHCYT)-Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, Universidad Veracruzana, Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico.

Article Synopsis
  • Drought significantly impacts leaf photosynthesis in common beans, but some cultivars compensate by using pod walls as carbohydrate reservoirs for seed filling.
  • A genome-wide analysis of the sucrose synthase (SUS) gene family revealed 7 genes with varying structures and evolutionary relationships among plant species.
  • Experiments showed increased SUS activity and higher fructose and sucrose levels in pods under water restriction, indicating enhanced transport and metabolic processes during seed development under drought conditions.

Background: A nonadjustable state of the programmable shunt valve is a rare phenomenon. This case report aims to explore the cause of pressure adjustment dysfunction in a programmable shunt valve in a middle cranial fossa arachnoid cyst-peritoneal shunt patient and to underscore this dysfunction as an indicator of shunt valve obstruction.

Case Presentation: A child with a ruptured giant arachnoid cyst in the left middle cranial fossa presented with acute intracranial hypertension following head trauma.

Assessing correlation between different temporary restorative materials for microleakage following endodontic treatment: an in-vitro study.

BMC Oral Health

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Saveetha University, Chennai, 600077, Tamil Nadu, India.

Background: Coronal microleakage, the passage of fluids and bacteria through the interface between the temporary restoration and the tooth structure, can potentially result in endodontic treatment failure.

Purpose: This study evaluated and compared the sealing efficacy of various temporary restorative materials utilized during endodontic procedures.

Methods: All seventy premolar teeth were extracted, measured, and restored, except for the negative control group, where the teeth were left whole.

Hyaluronic High Definition Fill Technique.

J Cosmet Dermatol

November 2024

Department of Radiology, Hospital das Clínicas-Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Introduction: Achieving a defined abdomen through traditional surgical methods like liposuction and abdominoplasty involves risks and significant downtime. Hyaluronic acid (HA) body filling has emerged as a minimally invasive alternative, offering immediate results with reduced recovery periods.

Patients And Methods: The high-definition abdomen through HA technique (HHD) was implemented on young men with BMI < 24.
