Background: The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has been associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), supporting translational relevance of RAS blockers. Comparability of study design/outcomes is fundamental for data analysis/discussion.
Objectives: We aimed at evaluating the heterogeneity among protocols and outcomes to study the effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers in IBD.

Objective And Design: The current study aimed to summarize the evidence of compounds contained in plant species with the ability to block the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-II), through a scoping review.
Methods: PubMed and Scopus electronic databases were used for the systematic search and a manual search was performed RESULTS: Studies included were characterized as in silico. Among the 200 studies retrieved, 139 studies listed after the exclusion of duplicates and 74 were included for the full read.

Genetic polymorphisms influencing muscle structure and metabolism may affect the phenotype of metabolic myopathies. We here analyze the possible influence of a wide panel of "exercise genes" on the severity and progression of respiratory dysfunction in late-onset Pompe disease (LOPD). We stratified patients with comparable age and disease duration according to the severity of their respiratory phenotype, assessed by both upright FVC% and postural drop in FVC%.

We describe a fast (5 min) liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method (LC-MS/MS) based on a 46 Da neutral loss of formic acid (H O and CO) to identify tri- and dipeptides (DIPEP) in whey protein and porcine liver protein hydrolysates and confirmed by further de novo sequencing. Sample solutions were acidified to favor [dipep + H] ions, and a m/z range of 50-300 was used to improve sensitivity. All dipeptide candidates were selected based on all possibilities of the 20 amino acid combinations, and their collision-induced dissociation fragments were screened via de novo sequencing.

Tonin, a serine-protease that forms Angiotensin II (AngII) from angiotensinogen, is increased in failing human heart samples. Increased blood pressure (BP) and decreased heart rate (HR) variabilities are associated with higher risk of cardiovascular morbidity. Losartan has been used to reduce hypertension and, therefore, lowers the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events.
