Application of additive manufacturing TaBw01 porous tantalum rod in ARCO stage II osteonecrosis of the femoral head.

J Orthop Surg Res

December 2024

Center for Joint Surgery, Southwest Hospital, Army Medical University, Gaotanyan Street, Shapingba District, Chongqing, 400038, China.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the suitable surgical strategies for applying TaBw01 porous tantalum rod across different stages of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH).

Methods: TaBw01 tantalum rods were fabricated using type FTaY-1 tantalum powder via the foam impregnation-sintering method. Mechanical testing with the Instron 8801 universal testing machine and finite element analysis (FEA) assessed single tantalum rod implantation and impaction bone grafting combined with rod implantation.

The faithful production of primordial germ cells (PGCs) in vitro opens a wide range of novel applications in reproductive biology and medicine. However, the reproducibility of PGCs culture conditions across different laboratories or breeds remains a challenge. Therefore, it is necessary to research the molecular dynamics that lead to the gradual establishment of cultured PGCs lines network.

Intensity-based 2D-3D registration methods are commonly used in musculoskeletal research and image-guided therapy to align 2D X-ray images with 3D CT scans. However, their success rate (SR) is limited by local optimization methods, which often cause the optimization of the underlying cost function to get stuck at a local minimum, resulting in false alignments. Global optimization methods aim to mitigate this problem, but despite their increasing popularity, the existing literature lacks consensus on which one is the most appropriate.

The burden of medical contraindications to corneal donation: Time for review.

PLOS Glob Public Health

December 2024

Laboratory Biology, Engineering and Imaging for Ophthalmology, Health Innovation Campus, Faculty of Medicine, University Jean Monnet, Saint-Etienne, France.

Corneal graft (keratoplasty) is the most common allograft in the world, but the imbalance between the number of donors and the number of patients waiting for transplants is abysmal on a global scale and varies enormously from one country to another. The risk of transmission of systemic diseases from donor to recipient is demonstrably low. In over 50 years and an estimated 2.

In this manuscript, we present a novel mathematical model for understanding the dynamics of HIV/AIDS and analyzing optimal control strategies. To capture the disease dynamics, we propose a new Caputo-Fabrizio fractional-order mathematical model denoted as SEIEUPIATR, where the exposed class is subdivided into two categories: exposed-identified EI and exposed-unidentified EU individuals. Exposed-identified individuals become aware of the disease within three days, while exposed-unidentified individuals remain unaware for more than three days.
