Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE-2) appear to play a critical role in tumour neovascularization. In this study, we have investigated the expression of VEGF and PGE-2 in 53 canine cutaneous mast cell tumours (MCTs). Immunohistochemistry of tissue sections revealed that VEGF and PGE-2 were expressed in all mast cell tumours studied. When the expression patterns of VEGF and PGE-2 were compared with tumour grade according to Patnaik criteria, the only significant correlation observed was between PGE-2 staining intensity and tumour pathological grade, with grade II and III tumours having higher PGE-2 staining, both in intensity and percentage of cells stained, than grade I tumours (P < 0.05).

Objective: This study utilized a sample of trangender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse (TGD) patients to build on emerging literature that suggests that hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome may be overrepresented in TGD populations. The objective of this retrospective chart review was to determine the prevalence of hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome syndrome at a gender-affirming primary care clinic.

Methods: A retrospective chart review of medical records was conducted with records between May 2021 and June 2024.

The role of lnc‑MAPKAPK5‑AS1 in immune cell infiltration in hepatocellular carcinoma: Bioinformatics analysis and validation.

Oncol Lett

March 2025

Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, School of Public Health, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong 511436, P.R. China.

The oncogenic and tumor suppressor roles of lnc-MAPKAPK5-AS1 in multiple cancers suggest its complexity in modulating cancer progression. The expression and promoter methylation level of lnc-MAPKAPK5-AS1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was investigated through data mining from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus and its significance in prognosis and immunity was explored. lnc-MAPKAPK5-AS1 was co-expressed with its protein-coding gene MAPKAPK5 in HCC and exhibited upregulation in HCC tissues as a result of hypomethylation of its promoter region.

Revealing VCAN as a Potential Common Diagnostic Biomarker of Renal Tubules and Glomerulus in Diabetic Kidney Disease Based on Machine Learning, Single-Cell Transcriptome Analysis and Mendelian Randomization.

Diabetes Metab J

Diabetes Department of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, China National Center for Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, China- Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing, China.

Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is recognized as a significant complication of diabetes mellitus and categorized into glomerular DKDs and tubular DKDs, each governed by distinct pathological mechanisms and biomarkers.

Methods: Through the identification of common features observed in glomerular and tubular lesions in DKD, numerous differentially expressed gene were identified by the machine learning, single-cell transcriptome and mendelian randomization.

Results: The diagnostic markers versican (VCAN) was identified, offering supplementary options for clinical diagnosis.

Background: Cuproptosis is a novel form of cell death, acting on the tricarboxylic acid cycle in mitochondrial respiration and mediated by protein lipoylation. Other cancer cell death processes, such as necroptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis, have been shown to play crucial roles in the therapy and prognosis of ovarian cancer. However, the role of cuproptosis in ovarian cancer remains unclear.

Immunoglobulin E, the potential accelerator of comorbid psoriasis and atherosclerosis.

Biomed Pharmacother

January 2025

Laboratory of Medical Mycology & Department of Dermatology, Jining No.1 People's Hospital affiliated to Shandong First Medical University, Jining, Shandong, China. Electronic address:

Immunoglobulin (Ig) E is a key mediator in the induction and maintenance of allergic inflammation, characterized by a Th2-dominated immune response. Recently epidemiological studies have showed that elevated serum total IgE levels or an increased abundance of mast cells (MCs) at the lesion site are observed in psoriatic patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD), such as atherosclerosis. Although the underlying mechanisms by which IgE synergizing with MCs in promoting these chronic immune-inflammatory diseases remain unclear, the interleukin (IL)-23/IL-17 axis appears to play a crucial role in comorbidity of psoriasis and atherosclerosis.
