Hepatozoon gamonts were observed by light microscopy in neutrophils of a male, wild-caught Leopard Cat. Complete blood counts at presentation and 6 months later were unremarkable. Serologic tests were negative for both FIV and FeLV. A partial sequence of the 18S rRNA gene from the Hepatozoon found in the cat indicated that, compared with all species examined, the protozoan had the closest relationship (99.2% sequence similarity) with the Hepatozoon of the water python (Stegonotus cucullatus). The cat was clinically healthy at last report. Although Hepatozoon has been found in another wild cat in Thailand, this is the first report in a Leopard Cat. The pathogenicity of Hepatozoon in these cats remains uncertain.

Background: Bocaviruses (BoVs), belonging to the Parvoviridae family, pose significant challenges in detection due to their genetic diversity and cross-species transmission capabilities. Efficient and broad-spectrum detection methods are essential for understanding BoV epidemiology and addressing potential zoonotic risks.
Methods: We developed a semi-nested PCR assay for simultaneous detection of diverse BoV species across human and animal hosts.
Large-scale anthropogenic developments in the metropolitan areas of Nepal and the rural to urban influx of people have exacerbated human-wildlife conflicts across human-altered landscapes of Nepal. The Kathmandu Valley has experienced large-scale urbanization and has subsequently witnessed substantial incidents of human-wildlife conflicts given the increasing levels of human encroachment into remnant wildlife habitats. Here, we applied DNA metabarcoding in combination with geospatial analysis to study the feeding ecology of two urban carnivores, the leopard () and the leopard cat (), in the forests surrounding the Kathmandu Valley and to check whether the leopards' predation on domestic animals contributes to human-leopard conflict in this region and to obtain a baseline data on the dietary habits of the poorly studied leopard cat.

Illegal wildlife trade poses a significant threat to Indonesia's biodiversity, especially among its diverse Felidae species (cats). While molecular methods have proven effective for identifying some Felidae species, there remains a gap in comparing these techniques across different endemic Felidae species in Indonesia, particularly in cases involving multiple species in confiscated wildlife products. This study applies DNA forensic techniques to analyze 38 confiscated Felidae samples, identifying four species: Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), leopard (Panthera pardus), leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis), and clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa).

The Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHTs) in Bangladesh have a rich biodiversity, hosting a wide range of wild mammal species, underscoring the importance of systematic monitoring focused on conservation efforts. This study aims to assess the diversity and abundance of small- and medium-sized wild mammal species in Pittachhara Forest in the CHTs. A comprehensive wildlife monitoring survey was conducted in this forest using strategically placed camera traps to identify the wild species diversity, and we evaluated the activity patterns and seasonal variations for the period of February 2023 to August 2024.
