Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the predominant form of lung cancer and poses a significant public health challenge. Early detection is crucial for improving patient outcomes, with serum biomarkers such as carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCAg), and cytokeratin fragment 19 (CYFRA 21-1) playing a critical role in early screening and pathological classification of NSCLC. However, due to being mainly based on corresponding antibody binding reactions, existing detection technologies for these serum biomarkers have shortcomings such as complex operations, high false positive rates, and high costs.

Identifying cellular markers within archived formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues is critical for understanding tissue landscapes impacting animal health, but in situ detection methods are limited in veterinary species by a restricted toolbox of species-compatible immunoreagents. We identify antibodies with conserved in situ reactivity to IBA-1 (macrophages/dendritic cells), CD3ε (T cells), Pax5 (B cells), Ki-67 (cycling cells), and cytokeratin type I/II (epithelial cells) in FFPE tissues of pigs, cattle, and white-tailed deer. Multiplexed brightfield detection (IBA-1/CD3ε/Pax5) in lymph nodes of all three species demonstrated species-specific and species-conserved features of cellular architecture.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MASLD) is a common liver and health issue associated with heightened cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, with Cytokeratin 18 (CK-18) as a marker of liver injury across the MASLD to cirrhosis spectrum. Autoantibodies against apolipoprotein A-1 (AAA-1s) predict increased CVD risk, promoting atherosclerosis and liver steatosis in apoE-/- mice, though their impact on liver inflammation and fibrosis remains unclear. This study examined AAA-1s' impact on low-grade inflammation, liver steatosis, and fibrosis using a MASLD mouse model exposed to AAA-1s passive immunization (PI).
