Adaptive hybrid virtual inertia controller for PMSG-based wind turbine based on fuzzy logic control.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Electrical Power and Machines Department, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Ain Shams, Egypt.

The integration of renewable energy sources into microgrids presents some challenges due to the decreased system overall inertia associated with the presence of converter -based sources. To overcome this issue and to enhance the system inertia, various concepts for virtual inertial control have been proposed in the literature. However, the concept of improving the system frequency through wind turbines has gained widespread acceptance.

Testicular lodges creation during scrotal reconstruction by ALT (anterolateral thigh) island flap after Fournier gangrene: A case report.

Ann Chir Plast Esthet

January 2025

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, hôpital Conception, 147, boulevard Baille, 13005 Marseille, France.

Introduction: Fournier's gangrene is a severe infection of the perineum and genital regions, with high mortality rate. Treatment is medico-surgical and multidisciplinary, usually requiring extensive debridement of scrotal tissue and distant surgical reconstruction. Regarding scrotal reconstruction, numerous techniques have been described, however, to our knowledge, none has focused on testicular repositioning.

Background: Indications for carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and reduction of complications require evaluation of the plaque properties and location of the distal end of the plaque. High cervical location can be predicted from the anatomy of the vertebral body and mandibular bones, and the locations of the posterior belly of the digastric muscle and stylohyoid muscle. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging without contrast medium is useful for preoperative evaluation of the plaque, arteries, and bone characterization.

Climate change is having unprecedented impacts on human health, including increasing infectious disease risk. Despite this, health systems across the world are currently not prepared for novel disease scenarios anticipated with climate change. While the need for health systems to develop climate change adaptation strategies has been stressed in the past, there is no clear consensus on how this can be achieved, especially in rural areas in low- and middle-income countries that experience high disease burdens and climate change impacts simultaneously.

Antiplatelet Agents in Endovascular Neurointerventional Procedures.

J Neurosurg Anesthesiol

January 2025

Department of Neurology, Neurocritical Care Division, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.

Minimally invasive, image-guided endovascular procedures are becoming increasingly prevalent as techniques and technologies have advanced, particularly within the realm of neurovascular interventions. Endovascular approaches ubiquitously result in endothelial injury with subsequent risk of thromboembolic complications. Periprocedural antiplatelet agent use is an integral component of the management of patients undergoing endovascular neurointerventional procedures.
