A concise synthesis of (1S*,3R*,6R*)-1-hydroxy-7(14),10-bisaboladien-4-one, an antifeedant against the locust Locusta migratoria isolated from the Japanese cedar Cryptomeria japonica, was achieved by starting from 4-hydroxy-2-cyclohexenone.

A concise, transition metal-free four-step synthetic pathway has been developed for the synthesis of tetracyclic heterosteroidal compounds, 14-aza-12-oxasteroids, starting from readily available 2-naphthol analogues. After conversion of 2-naphthols to 2-naphthylamines by the Bucherer reaction, subsequent selective C-acetylation was achieved via the Sugasawa reaction and reduction of the acetyl group using borohydride, which resulted into the corresponding amino-alcohols. The naphthalene-based amino-alcohols underwent double dehydrations and double intramolecular cyclization with oxo-acids leading to one-pot formation of a C-N bond, a C-O bond and an amide bond in tandem, to generate two additional rings completing the steroidal framework.

In the field of digestive system tumor research, spatial transcriptomics technologies are used to delve into the spatial structure and the spatial heterogeneity of tumors and to analyze the tumor microenvironment (TME) and the inter-cellular interactions within it by revealing gene expression in tumors. These technologies are also instrumental in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of digestive system tumors. This review provides a concise introduction to spatial transcriptomics and summarizes recent advances, application prospects, and technical challenges of these technologies in digestive system tumor research.

Azaaurones are formed by the replacement of intra-cyclic oxygen of the central core of a five-membered furan ring or any other carbon of aurones by a nitrogen atom. However, 1- azaaurone obtained by the replacement of intra-cyclic oxygen is the most prominent and desirable. They are the bioactive compounds acting as potential anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antibacterial, and antiviral agents.

The global burden of renal diseases is increasingly severe, underscoring the need for in-depth exploration of the molecular mechanisms underlying renal disease progression and the development of potential novel biomarkers or therapeutic targets. Angiopoietin-like protein 4 (ANGPTL4) is a multifunctional cytokine involved in the regulation of key biological processes, such as glucose and lipid metabolism, inflammation, vascular permeability, and angiogenesis, all of which play crucial roles in the pathogenesis of kidney diseases. Over the past 2 decades, ANGPTL4 has been regarded as playing a pivotal role in the progression of various kidney diseases, prompting significant interest from the scientific community regarding its potential clinical utility in renal disorders.
