In this study, I report an unexpected case of a Holstein calf that developed horns even though the sire was homozygous and the dam was heterozygous for polledness. After verifying and confirming the correct parentage, the parents and offspring were genotyped with the Illumina EuroG_MD BeadChip and the SNPs in the polled region on chromosome 1 were evaluated. In addition, the father was sequenced with next generation sequencing to identify possible, previously unknown variants.

Reporting adverse events (adverse drug reactions) associated with medicines and vaccines assists with identifying previously unrecognised side effects and other safety concerns. Reporting adverse events to the Therapeutic Goods Administration is mandatory for sponsors (pharmaceutical companies), and strongly encouraged but voluntary for healthcare professionals and consumers. Adverse events should be reported even when causality is uncertain, as reports may contribute to identification of a safety signal for new or uncommon events.

Objective: The trastuzumab emtansine, trastuzumab deruxtecan, and sacituzumab govitecan are antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) that have demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of breast cancer. Nonetheless, these ADCs can also induce severe toxicities in various organ systems, particularly the hematological system. Therefore, this study evaluated the hematological toxicities associated with ADCs in breast cancer based on real-world data.

Enhancing Clinical Applications by Evaluation of Sensitivity and Specificity in Whole Exome Sequencing.

The cost-effectiveness of whole exome sequencing (WES) remains controversial due to variant call variability, necessitating sensitivity and specificity evaluation. WES was performed by three companies (AA, BB, and CC) using reference standards composed of DNA from hydatidiform mole and individual blood at various ratios. Sensitivity was assessed by the detection rate of null-homozygote (N-H) alleles at expected variant allelic fractions, while false positive (FP) errors were counted for unexpected alleles.

There is compelling evidence that the absorption of low-energy UV radiation directly by DNA in solution generates guanine radicals with quantum yields that are strongly dependent on the secondary structure. Key players in this unexpected phenomenon are the photo-induced charge transfer () states, in which an electric charge has been transferred from one nucleobase to another. The present work examines the factors affecting the population of these states during electronic relaxation.
