Erythrocytes can occur in many different shapes. Most of them are pathological and can be involved in diseases such a hemolytic anemia's and sickle cell anemia. Only three kinds of red blood cells are no pathological. Echinocytes, stomatocytes and discocytes can occure in blood stream of healthy organism. The echinocyte-dyscocyte-stomatocyte transformation protects red blood cells from lysis caused by echinocytogenic agents (hypertonic saline, basic pH, vanadate, anionic amphiphiles, ATP depletion etc.) or stomatocytogenic agents (hypotonic saline, acidic pH, cationic amphiphiles etc.). Mechanisms of these transformations can be classified in three group: redistribution of bilayer's lipid, modification Donnan's equilibrium and interaction of band 3 protein with different type of external factors.

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in hospitalized older patients, associated with increased morbidity, mortality, and health care costs. Major adverse kidney events within 30 days (MAKE30), a composite of death, new renal replacement therapy, or persistent renal dysfunction, has been recommended as a patient-centered endpoint for clinical trials involving AKI.
Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate a machine learning-based model to predict MAKE30 in hospitalized older patients with AKI.

Current treatments for retinal disorders are anti-angiogenic agents, laser photocoagulation, and photodynamic therapies. These conventional treatments focus on reducing abnormal blood vessel formation in the retina, which, in a low-oxygen environment, can lead to harmful proliferation of endothelial cells. This results in dysfunctional, leaky blood vessels that cause retinal edema, hemorrhage, and vision loss.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by progressive, irreversible neurodegeneration, leading to memory loss and cognitive decline. In mouse models of AD, global decreases in cerebral blood flow (CBF) are brought on by the plugging of capillaries by arrested neutrophils, and the administration of the neutrophil-specific antibody against Ly6G (anti-Ly6G) reduces these capillary stalls in minutes and improves cognitive function within hours. This suggests that at least some aspects of neural activity impairment are reversible, but the mechanism of this recovery - and what specific neural activity is normalized - is not yet known.

Background: Murine studies have identified blood proteins that influence brain aging, but translating these findings to humans remains challenging. We used an innovative approach to investigate whether genetically predicted blood levels of proteins linked to brain aging in animal models are associated with cognitive performance in individuals at risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) [Figure 1].
Method: Through systematic review, we identified 13 circulating proteins with an aging/rejuvenating effect on the mouse brain.
