A simple and robust all-optical nonreturn-to-zero to return-to-zero (RZ) format converter is demonstrated and investigated using a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and a reconfigurable delayed interferometer. The scheme can be used to convert input signals at different bit rates and obtain converted signals with tunable duty cycles. Format conversion at 10 Gb/s is achieved with a negative power penalty of -4.9 dB at a bit-error rate of 10(-9). Transmission of the converted RZ signal over a dispersion-managed fiber link of 80 km results in only a small power penalty of 0.9 dB. In addition, the format converter is found to be insensitive to the power fluctuation of the optical clock, as the SOA works in the saturation regime.

Background: Descriptive metadata are vital for reporting, discovering, leveraging, and mobilizing research datasets. However, resolving metadata issues as part of a data management plan can be complex for data producers. To organize and document data, various descriptive metadata must be created.

In this paper, we introduce the workflow for converting qubit circuits represented by Open Quantum Assembly format (OpenQASM, also known as QASM) into the qudit form for execution on qudit hardware and provide a method for translating qudit experiment results back into qubit results. We present the comparison of several qudit transpilation regimes, which differ in decomposition of multicontrolled gates: as ordinary qubit transpilation and execution, with d=3 levels and single qubit in qudit, and with d=4 levels and 2 qubits per ququart. We provide several examples of transpiling circuits for trapped ion qudit processors, which demonstrate potential advantages of qudits.

Radical-radical reaction channels are important in the pyrolysis and oxidation chemistry of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In particular, unimolecular dissociation reactions within unbranched -perfluoroalkyl chains, and their corresponding reverse barrierless association reactions, are expected to be significant contributors to the gas-phase thermal decomposition of families of species such as perfluorinated carboxylic acids and perfluorinated sulfonic acids. Unfortunately, experimental data for these reactions are scarce and uncertain.

Background: Cathepsin-L (FhCL) is a group of enzymes that most flukes express and secreted significantly in parasite-host interactions. Researches are focusing on antigens released by as one of the keys to understanding immunologic pathways in parasite infection and targets for anthelmintics. Efforts to suppress FhCL function through vaccination or therapy using anthelmintic drugs are key factors in controlling field-level trematode infections.
