Actin cytoskeleton predominantly regulates the formation and maintenance of synapses by controlling dendritic spine morphology and motility. To visualize actin dynamics, actin molecules can be labeled by genetically fusing fluorescent proteins to actin monomers, actin-binding proteins, or single-chain anti-actin antibodies. In the present study, we compared the dendritic effect of EGFP-actin, LifeAct-TagGFP2 (LifeAct-GFP), and Actin-Chromobody-TagGFP2 (AC-GFP) in mouse cultured hippocampal neurons using unbiased quantitative methods.

Axons are the long and slender processes of neurons constituting the biological cables that wire the nervous system. The growth and maintenance of axons require loose microtubule bundles that extend through their entire length. Understanding microtubule regulation is therefore an essential aspect of axon biology.

Background: The renin-angiotensin system is highly conserved across vertebrates, including zebrafish, which possess orthologous genes coding for renin-angiotensin system proteins, and specialized mural cells of the kidney arterioles, capable of synthesising and secreting renin.
Methods: We generated zebrafish with CRISPR-Cas9-targeted knockout of renin () to investigate renin function in a low blood pressure environment. We used single-cell (10×) RNA sequencing analysis to compare the transcriptome profiles of renin lineage cells from mesonephric kidneys of with zebrafish and with the metanephric kidneys of and mice.

B-cells undergo somatic hypermutation and affinity maturation in germinal centers. Somatic hypermutated germinal center B-cells (GCBs) compete to engage with and capture antigens on follicular dendritic cells. Recent studies show that when encountering membrane antigens, GCBs generate actin-rich pod-like structures with B-cell receptor (BCR) microclusters to facilitate affinity discrimination.
