We report a 64-year-old female with predominantly bulbar amyotrophic lateral sclerosis who experienced 'roaring' in her ears. She was diagnosed with patulous Eustachian tube, which is presumed to occur secondary to bulbar weakness. The roaring adversely affected the management of her ALS by impairing her ability to tolerate BiPaP. A review of the relevant literature is reported.

This study evaluated the effects of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) eustachian tuboplasty on the treatment of chronic otitis media with effusion (COME), and associated complications, in patients with premature extrusion of the tympanostomy tube (TT). Tuboplasty and T-tube reinsertion were performed in 23 ears with COME, a history of premature TT extrusion, and thickened mucus. Tube retention, perforation closure, hearing improvement, and complications were evaluated.

Patulous Eustachian tube is a physical disorder in which the normally closed Eustachian tube remains open intermittently. Internal carotid artery (ICA) anomalies accompanied by Eustachian tube anomalies have been described very rarely in the literature.
