Aryl epoxides undergo coupling smoothly with (E)-hex-3-ene-1,6-ditosylamide in the presence of 10 mol % p-TSA in 1,2-dichloroethane at 75 degrees C to produce the corresponding 1,5-ditosyl-octahydro-1H-pyrrolidino[3,2-c]pyridines in good yields with high trans-selectivity, whereas the coupling of (Z)-hex-3-ene-1,6-ditosylamide gave cis-fused octahydro-1H-pyrrolidino[3,2-c]pyridines predominantly. The use of readily available p-TSA makes this method simple, convenient, and practical.

The nickel catalyzed multi-component cross-electrophile carbonylation which emerges as a powerful and efficient method for constructing diverse ketones has attracted increasing attention of organic chemists. However, the selectivity of this reaction poses a significant challenge. In this work, we have developed a current-regulated selective nickel-catalyzed electroreductive cross-electrophile carbonylation, which offers a direct convergent synthesis of β/γ-hydroxy ketones, which represent pivotal structural motifs found in numerous natural products, bioactive molecules, pharmaceutical compounds, and essential building blocks.

ConspectusElectrochemistry has been used as a tool to drive chemical reactions for more than two centuries. With the help of an electrode and a power source, chemists are provided with a system whose potential can be precisely dialed in. The theoretically infinite redox range renders electrochemistry capable of oxidizing or reducing some of the most tenacious compounds.

Novel Aryl Phosphate for Improving Fire Safety and Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Resins.

Polymers (Basel)

October 2024

Heilongjiang Key Laboratory of Molecular Design and Preparation of Flame Retarded Materials, College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Resource Utilization, Northeast Forestry University, Harbin 150040, China.

Epoxy resins (EPs) are highly flammable, and traditional flame retardant modifications often lead to a significant reduction in their mechanical performance, limiting their applications in aerospace and electrical and electronic fields. In this study, a novel flame retardant, bis(4-(((diphenylphosphoryl)oxy)methyl)phenyl)phenyl phosphate (DMP), was successfully prepared and introduced into the EP matrix. When the addition of DMP was 9 wt%, the EP/9 wt% DMP thermosets passed the UL-94 V-0 rating, and their LOI was increased from 24.

Cu immobilized onto N-doped carbon spheres (Cu/N-doped CS) derived from soybean flour was synthesized via the hydrothermal method and certified as a green high-efficiency catalyst for the regioselective synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted 1H-1,2,3-triazoles. The obtained N-doped carbon spheres from a combination of glucose and soy flour have a larger size and suitable affinity for load copper species. The morphology and structure of the as-prepared catalyst have been confirmed based on FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, EDX, BET, and ICP-OES characterizations.

The first synthesis of 3,4-diarylpyrimido[1,2-]indazole derivatives from 3-aminoindazoles has been realized. The FeCl-catalyzed intermolecular epoxide ring-opening reaction altered the order of annulation, with the free primary NH groups in 3-aminoindazoles preferentially reacting with styrene oxides instead of aromatic aldehydes. This protocol is further highlighted by its broad substrate compatibility, high chemo- and regioselectivities, and the late-stage modifications of bioactive molecules.
