AI Article Synopsis

  • The study examines the relationship between general health and oral pathology using non-invasive and minimally invasive evaluation methods.
  • The research involved patients aged 18-35 with partial tooth loss, focusing on how paraclinical evaluations, especially through thermography and digital radiography, inform treatment decisions.
  • Results indicated that many patients were unaware of underlying health issues that could impact dental conditions, highlighting the importance of understanding the connection between systemic health and dental problems.

Article Abstract

Unlabelled: The aim of this study quantifies the contribution of the non invasive and minimally invasive methods of paraclinic evaluation corroborated with the clinical aspects, a particularly important element being represented by the inter-relation between the general condition--oral pathology.

Material And Method: The study group was represented by patients with ages between 18 and 35 years, diagnosed with partial edentation, with various problems of the general condition. To the same extent, with concern to the study group a special emphasis was placed on the paraclinical results and the therapeutic trajectories directed by the use of the diagnodent, without ignoring the role the digital radiography has in the diagnostic stage as well as the therapeutic one.

Results: The results obtained subsequent to the thermographic evaluation showed the initially hidden character of the general symptomatology, the patient being unaware of the presence of any pathology at the level of the apparatus and systems, factor which could have interfered negatively with the pathology specific to the field of dental medicine. Creating a hierarchy, the link offered by the thermogram between the systems and the dental segment is already known. The pathology under investigation, both at an oral level and at a general one pleads for the correlative aspects of the binomial dental unit--affected organ, the modifications of the thermographic trajectories for the somatic area analyzed after the specific therapy being eloquent.

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of EEG microstates across different cognitive frailty (CF) subtypes, providing insights for the prevention and early diagnosis of CF. This study included 60 eligible older adults. Their resting-state EEG microstates were analyzed using agglomerative adaptive hierarchical clustering.

Article Synopsis
  • Uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS) is a rare cancer combining both carcinoma and sarcoma features, often resembling endometrial carcinoma, with a potential link to nulliparity (never having given birth) as a risk factor.
  • A 55-year-old woman presented with postmenopausal vaginal bleeding and was diagnosed after surgery, revealing well-differentiated adenocarcinoma and osteosarcoma components, along with multiple positive immunohistochemical markers.
  • Following a series of surgical interventions and treatments, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the patient demonstrated no signs of tumor recurrence and had a disease-free survival of seven months as of July 2024.

Invasive mucormycosis is an aggressive fungal infection characterized by rapid progression, primarily impacting immunocompromised individuals. Herein, we report a case of splenic infarction in association with gastrointestinal fistula and brain abscess as a rare presentation of mucormycosis biopsy, proven in a 56-year-old patient diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. The patient initially sought medical attention with a 3-week history of fever, night sweats, and malaise.

Background: Primary immunoglobulin (Ig)-associated mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis (Ig-MCGN) is an immune complex glomerulonephritis of unknown etiology. It is a common cause of chronic kidney disease in developing countries. There is limited data available on renal and patient outcomes of this disease from developing countries.

Background: Driver mutations in tyrosine kinases, such as the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutation, are known to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) but are rarely observed in large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC). Multiple primary malignancies (MPMs) refer to the occurrence of two or more distinct primary malignancies within the same or different organs and tissues in a single patient, either simultaneously or sequentially.

Case Presentation: We reported a case of advanced LCNEC as a heterochronous double primary malignancy, following a prior breast cancer diagnosis in a 55-year-old woman.
