Repair of three-month-old longitudinal meniscal lesions in the central avascular portion of the knee joint was investigated in 18 rabbits. Three months after a longitudinal incision was made in the avascular portion of the meniscus, no healing was observed. At that time a full-thickness radial cut from the lesion to the joint capsule, without using synovial flaps or implants, was performed in ten of the 18 rabbits. Three months later, nine of the ten menisci had healed mainly with cartilaginous tissue, although the repaired areas were different from the normal fibrocartilage both histologically and at gross inspection. Synovitis with hyperplasia of the lining cells, which was present in all cases at the time of repair, may play an important role in the healing process.

Littre's hernia is a rare type of hernia in which Meckel's diverticulum is found in the hernia sac. While most cases present with incarceration, incidentally discovered cases of Littre's hernia without incarceration are even rarer. A three-month-old boy was referred to our hospital with a three-month history of right inguinal swelling.

UVB radiation induces inflammatory and oxidative stress responses, contributing to skin damage, yet the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. N-Myc downstream-regulated gene 2 (NDRG2), an emerging stress-associated gene, remains unexplored in UVB-induced skin injury. In this study, we detected skin NDRG2 expression after UVB irradiation for the first time and further used Ndrg2 knockout mice to clarify the role of NDRG2 in UVB-induced skin injury.

Background: Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery from the inappropriate sinus of Valsalva (AAOCA) is a rare congenital heart lesion. It is uncommon for patients with AAOCA to present with severe symptoms at a very young age.
Case Presentation: We describe a very rare but critical presentation in a young infant with AAOCA that requires surgical repair and pacemaker placement.

Three Prime Repair Exonuclease 1 (TREX1) gene mutations have been associated with Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome (AGS) - a rare, severe pediatric autoimmune disorder that primarily affects the brain and has a poorly understood etiology. Microglia are brain-resident macrophages indispensable for brain development and implicated in multiple neuroinflammatory diseases. However, the role of TREX1 - a DNase that cleaves cytosolic nucleic acids, preventing viral- and autoimmune-related inflammatory responses - in microglia biology remains to be elucidated.

Tendinopathy is a complex tendon injury or pathology outcome, potentially leading to permanent impairment. Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) is emerging as a treatment modality for tendon disorders. However, the optimal treatment duration and its effect on tendons remain unclear.
