T(1)-shortening contrast agents have been widely used in time-resolved magnetic resonance angiography. To match imaging data acquisition with the short time period of the first pass of contrast agent, temporal resolution and/or spatial resolution have to be compromised in many cases. In this study, a novel non-contrast-enhanced technique was developed for time-resolved magnetic resonance angiography. Alternating magnetization preparation was applied in two consecutive acquisitions of each measurement to eliminate the need for contrast media. Without the constraint of contrast media kinetics, temporal resolution is drastically improved from the order of a second as in conventional contrast-enhanced approach to tens of milliseconds (50.9 msec) in this study, without compromising spatial resolution. Initial results from volunteer studies demonstrate the feasibility of this method to depict anatomic structure and dynamic filling of main vessels in the head.

Time evolution of a pumped molecular magnet-A time-resolved inelastic neutron scattering study.

Introducing an experimental technique of time-resolved inelastic neutron scattering (TRINS), we explore the time-dependent effects of resonant pulsed microwaves on the molecular magnet CrFPiv. The octagonal rings of magnetic Cr atoms with antiferromagnetic interactions form a singlet ground state with a weakly split triplet of excitations at 0.8 meV.

A wearable triboelectric impedance tomography system for noninvasive and dynamic imaging of biological tissues.

Sci Adv

Beijing Key Laboratory of Micro-Nano Energy and Sensor, Center for High-Entropy Energy and Systems, Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 101400, P. R. China.

Tissue imaging is usually captured by hospital-based nuclear magnetic resonance. Here, we present a wearable triboelectric impedance tomography (TIT) system for noninvasive imaging of various biological tissues. The imaging mechanism relies on the obtained impedance information from the different soft human tissues.

We describe the design and performance of a magnetic bottle electron spectrometer (MBES) for high-energy electron spectroscopy. Our design features a 2 m long electron drift tube and electrostatic retardation lens, achieving sub-electronvolt (eV) electron kinetic energy resolution for high energy (several hundred eV) electrons with a close to 4π collection solid angle. A segmented anode electron detector enables the simultaneous collection of photoelectron spectra in high resolution and high collection efficiency modes.

Evaluation of Aortic Diseases Using Four-Dimensional Flow Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Vasc Specialist Int

December 2024

Department of Radiology and Research Institute of Radiology, Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea.

The complex hemodynamic environment within the aortic lumen plays a crucial role in the progression of aortic diseases such as aneurysms and dissections. Traditional imaging modalities often fail to provide comprehensive flow dynamics that are essential for precise risk assessment and timely intervention. The advent of time-resolved, three-dimensional (3D) phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (4D flow MRI) has revolutionized the evaluation of aortic diseases by allowing a detailed visualizations of flow patterns and quantification of hemodynamic parameters.

The Development of an Electron Pulse Dilation Photomultiplier Tube Diagnostic Instrument.

Sensors (Basel)

November 2024

College Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, Hengshui University, Hengshui 053000, China.

A new pulse-dilated photomultiplier tube (PD-PMT) with sub-20 ps temporal resolution and associated drivers have been developed for use detection and signal amplification in the inertial confinement fusion (ICF) community. The PD-PMT is coupled to a transmission line output in order to provide a continuous time history of the input signal. Electron pulse dilation provides high-speed detection capabilities by converting incoming signals into a free-electron cloud and manipulating the electron signal with electric and magnetic fields.
