We uncover emergent universality arising in the equilibration dynamics of multimode continuous-variable systems. Specifically, we study the ensemble of pure states supported on a small subsystem of a few modes, generated by Gaussian measurements on the remaining modes of a globally pure bosonic Gaussian state. We find that beginning from highly entangled, complex global states, such as random Gaussian states and product squeezed states coupled via a deep array of linear optical elements, the induced ensemble attains a universal form, independent of the choice of measurement basis: it is composed of unsqueezed coherent states whose displacements are distributed normally and isotropically, with variance depending on only the particle-number density of the system.

The selective number-dependent arbitrary phase gates form a powerful class of quantum gates, imparting arbitrarily chosen phases to the Fock states of a cavity. However, for short pulses, coherent errors limit the performance. Here, we demonstrate in theory and experiment that such errors can be completely suppressed, provided that the pulse times exceed a specific limit.

We present the concept of time-domain bound states in continuum. We show that a rapid judiciously designed temporal modulation of the refractive index in a spatially homogenous medium gives rise to a bound state in time, embedded in a continuum of wave numbers. Mathematically, these bound states in the continuum are closed form solutions of the Maxwell equations in time and one-dimensional space.

Glutathione (GSH) plays an important role in maintaining redox homeostasis in biological systems. Development of reliable glutathione sensors is of great significance to better understand the role of biomolecules in living cells and organisms. Based on the advantages of the photophysical properties of iridium complexes, we proposed a "turn-on" phosphorescent sensor.

Unlabelled: Marine protists form complex communities that are shaped by environmental and biological ecosystem properties, as well as ecological interactions between organisms. While all of these factors play a role in shaping protistan communities, the specific ways in which these properties and interactions influence protistan communities remain poorly understood. Fourteen years and 9 months of eukaryotic amplicon (18S-V4 rRNA gene) data collected monthly at the San Pedro Ocean Time-series (SPOT) station were used to evaluate the impacts that environmental and biological factors, and protist-protist interactions had on protistan community composition.
