A series of chalcones (1-9) and pyrazoles (10-18) was prepared to investigate their potential activity as Angiotensin I-Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Their structures were verified by elemental analysis, UV, IR, MS, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, and 2D NMR experiments. Among tested compounds, chalcone 7 exerted the highest activity with an IC(50) value of 0.219 mM, while the most potent pyrazole was 15 (IC(50) value of 0.213 mM).

Enzymatic hydrolysis approach is commonly employed for preparation of active peptides, while the limited purity and yield of produced peptides hinder further development of action mechanisms. This study presents the biotechnological approach for the efficient production of recombinant angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory peptide LYPVK and investigates its potential antihypertensive action mechanism. DNA encoding sequence of recombinant peptide was designed to form in tandem, which was expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3).

Alpha-Glutathione-S-transferase (alphaGST) is a liver enzyme whose serum levels increase with the worsening of fibrosis in alcoholic and viral chronic hepatitis. Its usefulness in Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) remains unexplored. From January 2016 to December 2017, 200 patients with MASLD and 30 controls were enrolled.

Drug development for human disease relies on preclinical model systems such as human cell cultures and animal experiments before therapeutic treatments can ultimately be tested on humans in clinical studies. We here describe the generation of a novel human cell line (HLMVEC/SVTERT289) that we generated by transfection of microvascular endothelial cells from healthy donor lung tissue with the catalytic domain of telomerase and the SV40 large T/small t-antigen. These cells exhibited satisfactory growth characteristics and largely maintained their native characteristics, including morphology, cell surface marker expression, angiogenic potential and the protein composition of secreted extracellular vesicles.

The insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism in , the gene encoding the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), has been suggested as a genetic variation that can influence exercise performance and risk of injury in elite athletes. The I allele has been associated with enhanced endurance performance and with reduced inflammation, while the D allele has been associated with improved performance in strength and power activities. However, the role of this genetic variant in the incidence of non-contact injury is underexplored.
