A high healthy lifestyle index (HLI) score, which reflects an adequate amount of sleep, no alcohol consumption, no smoking, a moderate to high physical activity level, a high quality diet, and a normal body mass index (BMI), has been associated with reduced risk of morbidity and mortality. We examined the relationship between the HLI and measurements of adipose and lean tissue volumes measured using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We studied 33,002 participants in the UK Biobank study, aged 40-69 years at enrolment.

Objective: Smoking, a risk factor for metabolic syndrome, is associated with stress relief and pleasure among women, which can hinder efforts to quit smoking, particularly in workplaces. We investigated the metabolic syndrome indicators among working Korean women based on smoking status and workplace size to devise tailored smoking cessation policies.

In line with recommendations of Article 11 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, the Philippines has implemented graphic health warnings (GHWs) on cigarette packs. While the Graphic Health Warnings Law was passed in 2014, it was only implemented in 2016. Using a commercial determinants of health framework, this study aims to contribute evidence on Filipinos' perceptions of GHWs and the potential plain packaging of tobacco products in the Philippines.

MicroRNAs play a significant role in the development of cancers, including lung cancer. A recent study revealed that smoking, a key risk factor for lung cancer, increased the levels of hsa-mir-301a in the tumor tissues of patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). The aim of the current study is to investigate the mechanism by which tobacco smoke increases hsa-mir-301a levels in LUSC tumor tissues using bioinformatics analysis.
