The fungal genus Fusarium is a treasure-trove of structurally diverse secondary metabolites, contributed greatly by marine-derived strains. A new cedrane sesquiterpene, fusacedrol (1), and a new fusarin member, fusarin M (2), were isolated from F. graminearum 12Ⅱ2N that was isolated as an endophyte from the marine brown alga Sargassum sp.

Structural Variant Analysis of Complex Karyotype Myelodysplastic Neoplasia Through Optical Genome Mapping.

Genes Chromosomes Cancer

January 2025

Laboratory of Cancer Genetics and Tumor Biology, Translational Medicine Research Unit, Medical Research Center Oulu and Biocenter Oulu, University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland.

Myelodysplastic neoplasia with complex karyotype (CK-MDS) poses significant clinical challenges and is associated with poor survival. Detection of structural variants (SVs) is crucial for diagnosis, prognostication, and treatment decision-making in MDS. However, the current standard-of-care (SOC) cytogenetic testing, relying on karyotyping, often yields ambiguous results in cases with CK.

Modelling the human Coenzyme Q deficiency in Drosophila melanogaster.

Free Radic Biol Med

January 2025

Centro Andaluz de Biología del Desarrollo, Universidad Pablo de Olavide-CSIC-JA, Sevilla, Spain; CIBERER, U729, Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Madrid, Spain. Electronic address:

The interference of the expression of each of the genes involved in the synthesis of coenzyme Q (CoQ) in Drosophila melanogaster can help to understand the pathophysiology of CoQ-dependent mitochondrial diseases in humans. We have knocked-down all genes involved in the CoQ biosynthesis pathway at different temperatures to induce depletion of CoQ at different levels throughout the body and in a tissue-specific manner. The efficiency of the knockdowns was quantified by Q-RTPCR and determination of CoQ levels by HPLC-UV+ECD.

The C-3 and C-5 substituted 20-deoxyingenol monoesters are important active components in Euphorbiaceae plants. Nonetheless, their similar physical properties make them difficult to distinguish. The present study developed fast and efficient rules for identifying the esterification sites of 20-deoxyingenol based on a series of chemical syntheses of monoesters and literature research, utilizing NMR spectroscopy, optical rotation analysis, and chromatographic retention behavior.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) combined with periorbital triamcinolone acetonide injection in treating thyroid eye disease (TED) patients with active extraocular muscle but low CAS. The retrospective observational study was conducted. A total of 156 eligible patients were selected from the TED patient database of the Ophthalmology Department of West China Hospital of Sichuan University.
