A 54-year-old man underwent right S6 segmentectomy for right lung cancer. After discharge, he presented with fever, hemoptysis, and cough, and computed tomography showed an intermediate bronchus fistula. Because direct closure or bronchoplasty was challenging, a Dumon (Novatech) stent was inserted directly into the fistula from the surgical field and covered with an autologous pericardial patch, pedicled mediastinal fat, and intercostal muscle.

How I do it - focused Sylvian approach for clipping of middle cerebral artery aneurysms.

Acta Neurochir (Wien)

January 2025

Department of Neurosurgery, Medical Faculty and University Hospital Düsseldorf, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Moorenstr. 5, 40225, Düsseldorf, Germany.

Background: The Focused Sylvian Approach (FSA) is a refined, minimally invasive technique for clipping small to medium-sized middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms, prioritizing safety and aesthetics.

Method: The craniotomy remains confined to the superior temporal line, with the incision concealed within the temporal muscle. The Sylvian fissure is carefully dissected to preserve venous structures.

January 2025

Laboratory of Agricultural and Food Biophysics, Institute of Biophysics, College of Science, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, Shaanxi 712100, China; Laboratory of Muscle Biology and Meat Science, National Beef Cattle Improvement Center, College of Animal Science and Technology, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, Shaanxi 712100, China; Laboratory of Meat Quality Analysis and Products Development, Ningxia Xihaigu Institute of High-end Cattle Industry, Haiyuan, Ningxia 755299, China. Electronic address:

Multifunctional pH-responsive films were fabricated via layer-by-layer deposition of gelatin, chitosan, and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), incorporating selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) and beetroot extract (BTE), to monitor and preserve beef freshness. SeNPs were synthesized and characterized via various techniques. BTE exhibited promising functional properties, and films demonstrated a significant color transition from red to yellow across pH 2-14.

Purpose Of Review: The human circadian system regulates several physiological processes, including metabolism, which becomes significantly disrupted during critical illness. The common use of 24-h continuous nutrition support feeding in the intensive care unit (ICU) may further exacerbate these disruptions; this review evaluates recent evidence comparing continuous and intermittent feeding schedules in critically ill adults.

Recent Findings: Research comparing different feeding schedules in critically ill adults remains limited.

Background And Objectives: Patients with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) have a reduction in exercise capacity from the early stages. Although there are studies investigating these patients' lower extremity exercise capacity using various methodologies, there needs to be more research on the functional exercise capacity of the upper extremities. This study aimed to compare pulmonary function, upper extremity functional exercise capacity, muscle oxygenation, muscle strength, and physical activity level in children with PCD and controls.
