The geometric aspects for the functionality of a molecule-based field effect transistor (FET) are analyzed. A computational study is performed on molecular models involving a well-defined conjugation plane coupled to gold-based electrodes through thiol bonding. Transport gating of the FET is shown to depend on a symmetry-breaking effect induced by the gating field. This effect is also related to the orientation of the field relative to the gold-thiol bonds, the molecular conjugation plane, and the overall symmetry of the device. First, it is found that the presence of a center of inversion in the bulk-coupled molecular system results in the cancellation of the transisting response. Second, a mirror plane of the molecule-bulk system, which includes the transport vector, will cancel the gating response to fields oriented perpendicular to that mirror plane. The symmetry properties are determined for the bulk contacted molecular junction.

The isolation of nucleophilic boron bases has led to a paradigm shift in boron chemistry. Previous studies of the bis(carbene) borylene complexes revealed that these compounds possess strong donor abilities, and their reaction inertness is due to the large steric hindrance between boron reagents and reactant. In the present study, we have theoretically studied the [(N)BX] and [(N)BX] compounds (X = H, F, Cl, Br).

ConspectusCovalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) are a novel class of nitrogen-rich conjugated porous organic materials constructed by robust and functional triazine linkages, which possess unique structures and excellent physicochemical properties. They have demonstrated broad application prospects in gas/molecular adsorption and separation, catalysis, energy conversion and storage, etc. In particular, crystalline CTFs with well-defined periodic molecular network structures and regular pore channels can maximize the utilization of the features of CTFs and promote a deep understanding of the structure-property relationship.

Context: The timing of a woman's final menstrual period (FMP) in relation to her age is considered a valuable indicator of overall health, being associated with cardiovascular, bone health, reproductive, and general mortality outcomes.
Objective: This work aimed to evaluate the relationship between hormones and the "time to FMP" when daily hormone trajectories are characterized by their 1) entropy, and 2) deviation from premenopausal/stable cycle patterns (representing a textbook "gold standard"; GS).
Methods: As part of the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation, urinary luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), estrogen conjugates (E1C), and pregnanediol glucuronide (PDG) were measured daily from a multiracial sample of 549 mid-life women for the duration of one menstrual cycle.

Objective: Impaired right ventricular (RV)-pulmonary arterial (PA) coupling, calculated by measuring the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) to pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP), can be used as an early indicator of right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) in patients with heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Patients suffering from HFrEF experience improvements in left ventricular (LV) function through the administration of sacubitril/valsartan therapy. In addition, the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) score was associated with the fluid overload status and adverse clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure.

Non-linearities in organic exciton-polariton microcavities represent an attractive platform for quantum devices. However, progress in this area hinges on the development of material platforms for high-performance polariton lasing, scalable and sustainable fabrication, and ultimately strategies for electrical pumping. Here, we show how introducing Schlieren texturing and a rough intra-cavity topography in a liquid crystalline conjugated polymer enables strong in-plane confinement of polaritons and drastic enhancement of the lasing properties.
