Glucose-sensing ChREBP and MondoA are transcriptional factors involved in lipogenic, inflammatory, and insulin signaling pathways implicated in metabolic disorders; however, limited ocular studies have been conducted on these proteins. We aimed to investigate the potential role of ChREBP in pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy (DR). We used diabetic human and mouse retinal cryosections analyzed by immunohistochemistry.

With the rapid advancement of diabetes technology, the number of patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using automated insulin delivery (AID) systems is increasing, making the presence of such patients in the perioperative period more common. This study presents two cases of T1D patients who underwent thyroidectomy while using AID, following a protocol designed in collaboration with the diabetology, anesthesiology, and surgical teams. Two female patients, aged 12 and 33 years, both using AID systems, were admitted for elective thyroidectomy.

Purpose: Middle-segment preserving pancreatectomy (MSPP) serves as an alternative to total pancreatectomy (TP) for preserving the pancreatic body in multifocal pancreatic neoplasms. Despite the potential benefits of TP, the detailed short- and long-term prognoses remain unclear. We evaluated the feasibility of MSPP by comparing the perioperative outcomes and postoperative endocrine and exocrine functions with those of TP.
