Results are reported of using ultrasound therapy in the complex of oculomotor disorders in 14 patients who underwent an endovascular operation of occluding saccular aneurysms of the internal carotid artery in comparison with 25 control patients who were treated by routine methods. The proposed method proved efficient and is recommended for wider use in this kind of pathology.

Genetic Engineered Ultrasound-Triggered Injectable Hydrogels for Promoting Bone Reconstruction.

Research (Wash D C)

September 2023

Department of Orthopaedics, Shanghai Key Laboratory for Prevention and Treatment of Bone and Joint Diseases, Shanghai Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, 197 Ruijin 2nd Road, Shanghai 200025, China.

Genetic engineering technology can achieve specific gene therapy for a variety of diseases, but the current strategy still has some flaws, such as a complex system, single treatment, and large implantation trauma. Herein, the genetic engineering injectable hydrogels were constructed by ultrasonic technology for the first time to realize in vivo ultrasound-triggered in situ cross-linking and cell gene transfection, and finally complete in situ gene therapy to promote bone reconstruction. First, ultrasound-triggered calcium release was used to activate transglutaminase and catalyze the transamidation between fibrinogen.

More than 1 million permanent pacemakers are implanted worldwide each year, half of which are in patients with high-grade atrioventricular block. Pacemakers provide adequate frequency support in the initial stage, but traditional right ventricular (RV) pacing may lead to or aggravate left ventricular dysfunction and arrhythmia. Several potential risk factors for heart failure and arrhythmias after pacemaker surgery have been identified, but their occurrence remains difficult to predict clinically.

Osteoarthritis of the knee is a common cause of pain, functional disability, and reduced quality of life in the elderly. Despite its prevalence, there are limited currently available noninvasive treatment options. MRI-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) is a noninvasive thermal ablation method which is used in a spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions.

Perforating Internal Root Resorption Sealed with Single-Cone Technique Using Bioceramic Sealer: A Case Report.

Am J Case Rep

January 2025

Department of Restorative Dentistry, College of Dentistry, Umm Al-Qura University, Mekkah, Saudi Arabia.

BACKGROUND Internal root resorption (IRR) is a rare dental condition characterized by the progressive resorption of dentin within the root canal, often resulting from infection, trauma, or orthodontic treatment. When IRR progresses to perforation, it creates a communication pathway with periodontal tissues, necessitating effective endodontic therapy and perforation repair. Bioceramic sealers, known for their biocompatibility and flowability, have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional materials for filling and sealing the root canal system.

Effectiveness of nonsurgical re-instrumentation of residual pockets as step 3 of periodontal therapy: A field study.

J Periodontol

January 2025

Department of Periodontology, Institute of Odontology, The Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Background: The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of nonsurgical re-instrumentation of residual pockets as step 3 of periodontal therapy and the stability of treatment outcomes at 18 months.

Methods: The study sample consisted of 489 patients diagnosed and treated nonsurgically for periodontitis. After a 6-month evaluation, residual pockets (≥5 mm) were re-instrumented.
