Bis(N,N'-2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-6-aminofulvene-2-aldimine (4) has been synthesised and characterised. The synthesis and characterisation of two zwitterionic Pd(ii) complexes [(Ph(2)AFA)Pd(Me)DMAP] (1) and [(Ph(2)AFA)Pd(N,N-dimethylbenzylamine-2-C,N)] (2) are reported. Activation of 1 and 2 for ethene polymerisation with Lewis acids such as BF(3) and B(C(6)F(5))(3) were not successful. Attempted synthesis of halide-bridged dimers of the form [(Ph(2)AFA)Pd(mu-X)](2) resulted in formation of bis-chelated complexes [(Cy(2)AFA)(2)Pd] (3) and [((t)Bu(2)AFA)(2)Pd] (5).

We applied a classifier method to predict palladium catalysts for the formation of nonalternating polyketones via the copolymerization of CO and ethylene; current examples are limited to using phosphine sulfonate and diphosphazane monoxide supporting ligands. With the reported workflow, we discovered two new classes of palladium complexes capable of achieving the synthesis of nonalternating polyketones with a lower CO content than those made by known palladium catalysts. Our results show that we doubled the number of classes of palladium compounds that can catalyze the formation of this type of polymer.

A series of new Pd(II) complexes were synthesized from the reaction of andrographolide appended hydrazide derivatives with potassium tetrachloropalladate K[PdCl]. The formation of the complexes was confirmed through structural assessments conducted using various spectroscopic techniques. From the spectral studies we confirmed that the ligands coordinated to Pd(II) ion via amine nitrogen and enone oxygen.

Palladium-Catalyzed Oxidative Allene-Allene Cross-Coupling.

Department of Organic Chemistry, Arrhenius Laboratory, Stockholm University, SE-10691 Stockholm, Sweden.

Direct cross-coupling reactions between two similar unactivated partners are challenging but constitute a powerful strategy for the creation of new carbon-carbon bonds in organic synthesis. [4]Dendralenes are a class of acyclic branched conjugated oligoenes with great synthetic potential for the rapid generation of structural complexity, yet the chemistry of [4]dendralenes remains an unexplored field due to their limited accessibility. Herein, we report a highly selective palladium-catalyzed oxidative cross-coupling of two allenes with the presence of a directing olefin in one of the allenes, enabling the facile synthesis of a broad range of functionalized [4]dendralenes in a convergent modular manner.

Transition metal complexes are well-known for their efficient light emission and are promising for applications ranging from bioimaging to light-emitting diodes. In solution, interactions between the metal centers of two complexes become possible and drastically change the photophysical properties. For real-world devices, solid-state materials consisting of these molecules are preferable.

The enantioselective domino Heck/cross-coupling has emerged as a powerful tool in modern chemical synthesis for decades. Despite significant progress in relative rigid skeleton substrates, the implementation of asymmetric Heck/cross-coupling cascades of highly flexible haloalkene substrates remains a challenging and and long-standing goal. Here we report an efficient asymmetric domino Heck/Tsuji-Trost reaction of highly flexible vinylic halides with 1,3-dienes enabled by palladium catalysis.
