Aims: Regular heavy alcohol consumption may lead to the development of alcohol-related cardiomyopathy and symptomatic heart failure (HF) later in life. However, the dose-response relationship between alcohol consumption and risk for incident HF, and whether these associations vary by sex and type of alcoholic beverage remains unclear.
Methods And Results: A total of 407 014 participants (52% women, age 56 years) from the UK Biobank who completed alcohol-related questionnaires and without a history of HF at baseline were included in the study.

Background: Prehypertension and hypertension often coexist with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) during the progression of cardiovascular disease (CVD). International academic liver societies have recently reached a consensus to replace NAFLD with the new term 'steatotic liver disease' (SLD). In this study, we aimed to evaluate the impact of different SLD subtypes on all-cause and CVD mortality in individuals with prehypertension or hypertension.

Objectives: Despite relatively high alcohol consumption in Australia, local evidence regarding drinking and cause-specific mortality is limited. We aimed to quantify the risk of alcohol-related causes of death and to calculate contemporary estimates of absolute risk and population attributable fractions for deaths caused by alcohol consumption in Australia.
Study Design: Prospective cohort study.

Introduction: Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers account for over a quarter of all cancer-related deaths in the United States; however, the latest trends in their prevalence remain unclear.
Methods: Data on GI cancers were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021. Age-standardized incidence rates (ASIR) and age-standardized mortality rates (ASMR) were estimated across various states, sexes, ages, and risk factors, and annual percentage changes were calculated.

Background/aims: There are no hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance recommendations for non-viral chronic liver diseases (CLD), such as metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). We explored the Steatosis-Associated Fibrosis Estimator (SAFE) score to predict HCC in MASLD and other CLD etiologies.
Methods: Patients with various CLDs were included from medical centers in Taiwan.
