The Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres (CAPHC) and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada (ISMP Canada) are working collaboratively to enhance the safety of pediatric medication use. Eleven CAPHC member organizations submitted data on more than 4,000 medication incidents to ISMP Canada for the period October 2005 to June 2008, 305 of which were reported as resulting in harm. From this, the top five drugs causing harm through medication error and contributing factors to the incidents were identified. In this article, we intend to inform critical care practitioners of the medication incident analyses and the collaborative pediatric patient safety initiatives underway.

Drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a significant challenge in the control and treatment of tuberculosis, making efforts to combat the spread of this global health burden more difficult. To accelerate anti-tuberculosis drug discovery, repurposing clinically approved or investigational drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis by computational methods has become an attractive strategy. In this study, we developed a virtual screening workflow that combines multiple machine learning and deep learning models, and 11 576 compounds extracted from the DrugBank database were screened against Mtb.

Background: To compare the impact of two different lipid emulsions, specifically a soybean oil-based emulsion and a multiple oil emulsion (soybean oil, medium-chain triglycerides, olive oil, and fish oil, SMOF), on serum metabolites of very low birth weight (VLBW) infants using untargeted metabolomics analysis.
Methods: A comparative study was conducted on 25 VLBW infants hospitalized in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) of Hangzhou Women's Hospital in 2023. The infants were divided into the SMOF group (13 cases) and the soybean oil group (12 cases) based on the type of lipid emulsion used during parenteral nutrition.

To understand the colonization status of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) in the reproductive tract of pregnant women in the Linyi region, the drug resistance, genotype distribution, and molecular epidemiological characteristics of GBS, and to explore the high-risk factors for GBS infection in late-stage pregnant women. A total of 3269 pregnant women at 35-37 weeks of gestation who visited the Obstetrics Department of Linyi Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2019 to December 2021 were selected as the study subjects. Vaginal and rectal swabs were collected for GBS culture.
