Objective: To compare the synthetic ability of osteoblasts on the surface of different nano-granule titanium films and investigate the correlation between nanophase titanium films and cellular biocompatibility.

Methods: Four different nano-granule titanium films were produced by direct current magnetron sputtering, at ambient, 100 degrees C, 250 degrees C, 380 degrees C substrate temperature, respectively. Rat osteoblasts were seeded on the surface of four treated groups of titanium film samples and non-treated Ti sample(control group). The production of osteocalcin (OC) in all five groups were detected by using double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Results: The production of OC increased gradually from day 7 to day 14 in all groups. In the control group, it showed significant differences with other five groups on day 7. On day 14, the production of OC in 100 degrees C group was the highest, and it showed significant differences with 380 degrees C, control group and blank group. In 250 degrees C group, the production of OC also showed significant differences with 380 degrees C, control group and blank group (P < 0.05).

Conclusion: Titanium with nano-modified surface had good biocompatibility and different nano-granule titanium films could affect the synthesis of osteoblasts.

Compared to traditional preservatives, photodynamic inactivation (PDI) offers a promising bactericidal approach due to its nontoxic nature and low propensity for microbial resistance. In this paper, we initially investigate the principles and antibacterial mechanisms underlying PDI. We then review factors influencing PDI's germicidal efficacy in food preservation.

Exosomes have emerged as a powerful biomarker for early cancer diagnosis, however, accurately detecting cancer-derived exosomes in biofluids remains a crucial challenge. In this study, we present a novel label-free electrochemical biosensor utilizing titanium dioxide nanotube array films (TiONTAs) for the sensitive detection of exosomes in complex biological samples. This innovative biosensor takes advantage of the excellent electrochemical properties of TiONTAs and their specific interactions with the phosphate groups of exosomes.

Large enhancement of ferroelectric properties of perovskite oxides via nitrogen incorporation.

Perovskite oxides have a wide variety of physical properties that make them promising candidates for versatile technological applications including nonvolatile memory and logic devices. Chemical tuning of those properties has been achieved, to the greatest extent, by cation-site substitution, while anion substitution is much less explored due to the difficulty in synthesizing high-quality, mixed-anion compounds. Here, nitrogen-incorporated BaTiO thin films have been synthesized by reactive pulsed-laser deposition in a nitrogen growth atmosphere.

The production of green hydrogen through proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) is a promising technology for industry decarbonization, outperforming alkaline water electrolysis (AWE). However, PEMWE requires significant investment, which can be mitigated through material and design advancements. Components like bipolar porous plates (BPPs) and porous transport films (PTFs) contribute substantially to costs and performance.
